I do! And it is! :D

Let's see... The game is split into two cycles, and the real mental institution half is by far the more pleasant one. The characters are given activities and meals, they're treated well, etc., but the point of that half is to make the characters doubt that their memories are real. They can even get visitors from their "real life" (Shinji visited Kaworu recently, for instance). Once you get in, you can come up with a real life background that approximates what happened in canon, but it tends to be... happier. To make it sound more alluring.

The other half, "nightshift", is the scary, traumatizing side. If you're familiar at all with Silent Hill, it's pretty heavily inspired by that. Scary things happen, monsters attack characters, etc. It's not too bad to play a character who can't fight. Kaworu's abilities are so watered down that at this point he's been following around people who can help him. You can sign up for rare, random events that can be really hard on your character (experimentation, one-night brainwashing), but it's optional. Mostly it's just threat of being eaten by monsters and the psychological scare of having no control over the situation. Then they wake up in the morning, and everything is back to 'normal' and the staff is oblivious to anything weird happening.

From the OOC side, everyone's been incredibly nice to me. Even though I'm shy, I've had a pretty easy time getting my characters out there. Really lovely OOC environment. damned has a reputation for being impressively drama-free.
