The Headmaster insisted that I write in these silly journal things so I suppose I shall, although it does not particularly matter as I shall soon be in a much more interesting position anyway. Practically none of the other members of my House care to converse with me nowadays, and when I walk by half the time they start whispering, as though I could not be trusted, which is entirely ridiculous! In fact from what I hear it is certain others in Slytherin who ought not to be trusted.
At any rate I have much more important things to do than worry about love potions and rings. Cornelius (as he invited me to call him) has promised that once I pass the admission examination he will appoint me as a junior clerk in his department! Although the position does not bring a great amount of prestige I am quite certain that with the right friends, a rising position will be practically guaranteed. Cornelius has described to me some of the work of Magical Law Enforcement and it sounds terribly exciting - I am very much looking forward to having more freedom in ensuring proper behavior!
Two Saturdays ago was my birthday, and Mother sent me a lovely strawberry cake with pink frosted rose petals on top. I still have half of it left under a Preservation Charm but I doubt anyone cares to share it. Certainly not my dear roommate, whose ridiculous preening only seems to get worse as she approaches some sort of special occasion this summer.
