The Golden Compass
I hadn't heard of this movie until
babiecuz sent a link to the website to her yahoogroup, but it looks very interesting. The website has a short preview. The idea that really captures my imagination is the concept of the Daemons, each person's soul in animal form that is a lifelong companion. During childhood, a person's daemon will shift forms but gradually settles out into one constant form during adulthood. There's a cool feature at the website where you can take a quiz and it determines your daemon and your friends can go and help determine what your daemon should be for 12 days before it settles out into it's permanent form. This is what mine currently looks like:
There are 9 days left to determine his final form. He's pretty cute right now! Too bad this flick doesn't come out until December.
Edit: Well, it did say 9 days but now it says 12 again. Maybe it resets the day count with every transformation? Thaleron is a coyote now. He was even a tiger briefly.
