July Wallpaper Challenge

lotr_spotlight issued a wallpaper challenge this month. We were supposed to make 5 walls using song lyrics from five different songs and open subject matter otherwise.

I had great fun putting my media player on random and picking out whatever came up that called to me. It's a somewhat diverse group, but most with a similarly moody and gothic tone. I'll be linking each song to youtube, simply because that was the easiest way I could think of to let everyone hear the songs I used. You'll note that for two of the walls, I left a line here or there out because there simply wasn't room for the whole bit and I had to choose which lines were most appropriate the the image. I hope that isn't jarring.

First up, we have a very gothic Johnny put to Sting's Why Should I Cry For You? I almost did this one with Nightwish's Ghost Love Score, which I adore, but Sting seemed to work a little easier and I wanted to use the flood filter. :^)

Next up, we have a tremendously attitudinal Dom to Nickelback's Follow You Home. The look on his face seems to go perfectly with the edge and energy of the song.

And for something much more tranquil, we have Viggo and Enigma's Goodbye Milky Way. Here's a band that's always interesting. I love the way they use Gregorian chanting. They have a couple of songs on a celestial theme, my favorite of which is Following the Sun, but this one seemed best suited to the image. Viggo does seem a little like he can't be from the same planet as the rest of us at times, doesn't he? In the best way, of course.

It's all Viggo from here on out. Now we take a sharp turn the Dixie Chicks' Lullabye. There's something very soothing about is song.

Last, and I hope not least, we have a not entirely safe for work Viggo and Luscious Jackson's Naked Eye. A real, if blurry picture, of Viggo and this song were entirely too much temptation to pass up. It feels a little deviant, but that's what makes it so much fun. ;^)

And there you have it. :^)
