That is a very, very long drive, and one I'm disinclined to repeat.
We got home, and found all but two of our fish dead. And they were only alive because they are catfish and therefore equipped to survive in sludge. The fault lies with the neighbor who was supposed to be tending them. There was days and days of sludge, as a circuit breaker had tripped and the filter was off. We suspect the AC had been turned on high. We were, of course, not contacted when this occurred. I also found the housekey on the floor in the bathroom, so who knows when they'd locked themselves out. At least the cat had a little water left, but it was looking a little icky. :-P
He sent his kid over with $60 to replace the fish, so obviously he knew he was at fault. We're going to wait, and see what they say about the key without any prompting from us.
Yeah, after 24 hours of driving, we wanted to explain to the children that the fish were all dead, and have to scrub out a disgusting fish tank.
