I think a big problem with Facebook is that it robs you of the illusion that the people you never liked ceased to exist once you jettisoned them from your life.
Pre-facebook, once you graduated/quit/broke up with etc. etc., you were free to go on your merry way imagining that their life will be difficult because they're horrible people and thusly horrible things will befall them until they're lonely, unloved and alone in a cardboard box in the Bronx.
But now, you get a lovely box popping up with their smiling face in a wedding dress, or with their kid/husband/sports car/house asking if you know them.
And it's infuriating.
If that's not an argument for reinstating duels I don't know what is.
