THINGS
1. ONE AND DONE: PENS ARE GOLFIN'
A week after them being eliminated it's less hard to believe but still hard to take. Especially because the Flyers who by all means shouldn't even be in the playoffs (their berth came down to a single shootout goal in the last game of the season, not their last game.. the last game) are dominating the team that claimed both the Pens and Caps. Lots of criticism coming from overzealous fans that think it's a cakewalk to appear in the finals 2 years in a row and an Olympics. A finals, cup, gold medal, Art Ross, and Rocket Richard aren't enough? As much as a long offseason sucks now it will pay dividends next year. Still interesting to see how the free agency will shake out.
2. PEACE SELLS
Mark Megadeth as one of those bands I've been willfully ignorant of for a decade plus and am just now kicking myself for not listening to sooner. This, again, is part of my longtime mix-up of thrash and power metal. I lumped bullshit like Nightwish and Iced Earth with good shit like Nuclear Assault and Overkill for the longest time and ignored the genre completely. Only in about the past two years have I unearthed thrash and only this past week have I discovered the greatness of "Rust in Peace".
3. I'M ON TO YOU MOTHERFUCKER
Me and the lady have been on a Dexterathon the past week or so. I've never seen it so don't go spoiling any shit! It's the first thing we both like. I enjoyed True Blood until the dumbass turned into a dog.
4. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
I gave up on my scheme to read my entire bookshelf. It didn't go to well. I am however making an effort to read a lot this summer. I've read 2 books already and now am finally trying to finish "The Idiot". I need to put less stress on the books I read. I guess since I first read Sartre or whatever I expect every book to shake my very foundation and that shit just doesn't happen. I'm not snoody, far from it actually as I never really finish shit, but I just find myself saying "What's the point?" before hitting the 100 page mark of most books. And since I read slow as shit that's a problem. I'm working on it though.
That being said, what are you all up to????????
