i have yet to write about my adventures at south by southwest, and in all honesty i might never get around to it. but i do want to say that if there was any subliminal nonsense that nada surf might not be my absolute favorite band for the rest of my life, i put that to rest. i saw them three times last week, each show its own entity, each one its own experience. i was put on the guestlist for their big cedar door show with tapes n tapes and rogue wave, by daniel lorca, whose name is also "the reason i learned to play the bass" in many a former journal entry. i was awestruck the whole weekend, i was living in against the backdrop of a film, soundtracked with the sounds that have pressed and stretched me, molded me for over a decade now into the person that i think i am, and also the person i will become in the future. fuck me, i feel good right now, i just wish i can rplay that weekend over and over. everyone love this band now, make me feel like ive had it right for a long time now

they played the blankest year at the third show i saw them at, and everyone sang the chorus in unison on the rooftop of maggie maes, i have to be honest, it was pretty brilliant
