So following in Neville's footsteps, I figured I would do a quick little blurb about Rhoda's personality and all that, even though I'm fairly certain most of you know pretty much all you need to know about her.
In my head, she's like the British Blair Waldorf (keeping in mind that I've only seen the first season of GG). She's rich, sophisticated, snobby, and not afraid to let you know. She knows she's beautiful, works very hard to keep herself looking nice, spending a fair chunk of time in front of the mirror every morning, curling her hair and doing her makeup and agonizing over what she's going to wear. The way she's portrayed is very important to her, first impressions are everything in her mind. Besides, you never know when someone's going to take your picture.
She's always cold. She's always been cold, and in fact, that's what was her downfall as a child. She just got too close to the fire and a stray spark landed on her dress, setting the poor thing smoldering. Not realizing how to deal with fire on your clothing, she fanned at the spark, hoping it'd go out. It did quite the opposite, really, and so now she keeps away from fires as much as possible. Even candles are off-limits to her, and woe be to them who light them in her presence.
Despite her bitchy facade -- which goes pretty deep, actually -- she's a sweet girl. She cares very deeply for her friends and would do anything for them if they ever needed it. She doesn't really know how to express the things she's feeling, sometimes, and so compensates with humor (usually at someone else's expense), or by flat-out denial, which is why the whole Basil situation is so ridiculous. Appearance is everything, and if she appears not to care, she can't get hurt. She won't make the first move unless she's positive it'll pay off, which means she often doesn't do anything. She's one of those people who would sit beside your bed if you're sick and make you tea, keeping you occupied so you don't feel so miserable, but then turn around and insult you to counteract whatever warm fuzzies might have been formed, just in case people got the wrong impression of her. She has very strong opinions of what ladylike behavior consists of, and what is and isn't appropriate for a young woman to do if they want to be taken seriously. Chivalry is important to her, and if she meets a boy who acts like a total boor, she's absolutely not interested, and very little that they do after will make her change her mind. Once she's decided she doesn't like you, it's almost impossible to weasel your way back into her good graces.
