I’m not a stranger to darkness. My eyes manage to cut through it. Darkness, or just the black is a color all its own, and a vampire’s vision is designed to see and identify the source of said color. It doesn’t matter how dark it is. I can see. There are times, however, when I might have wished the opposite was true.
That damned tunnel was one such example. It didn’t matter whether it was night or day; the tunnel was still lousy with its darkness, and lousy with rotting corpses that walked as though they hadn’t recently tore themselves out from a coffin.
It didn’t matter that they couldn’t see me as a food source. It’s ironic that the same can be said of the reverse. I can’t feed from them, and I have to actually reach out and touch one before they even realize that I’m there.
The problem, is the tunnel is often so crowded that I can’t use it without making some kind of physical contact. It always happens after I’ve already reached the halfway point. I keep using the tunnel, anyway.
...I like shortcuts.
