I FINISHED MY STORY TODAY!!!!! 29 pages of me bitching about women. well, not really. but it's 29 pages of something!!! and as i promised before, i am going to post it. so if you have the time and the patience, click behind the cut, and BAM! be prepaired to read for hours!!! oh yeah, the stories called "A Bold Decision." don't worry, that has nothing to do with the actual story.
If you ask most men in America what the perfect woman is, they’ll usually describe your typical model. You know, blond hair, blue eyes, long legs, big breasts; the usual. Minus the long legs, that describes my current girlfriend, Tiffany. Most people would be excited to be dating a girl like this. I, on the other hand, am not. Tiffany just isn’t the type of girl I want to be with. Our “relationship,” for lack of better words, is nothing but sex. Mind you, I don’t mind the sex at all, but I’m looking for something more.
Most people wonder what she’s doing with a guy like me. Being five foot eight and 140 pounds doesn’t really make you a chick magnet. I’ve asked her countless times what she sees in me. Her usual answer is something along the lines of how she loves my brown eyes. Though, that’s usually followed by how she hates that I hide them behind my glasses. “Why don’t you get contacts?” she always asks. “You’d be a lot cuter if you did.” With comments like those, how could I not love her? Usually at times like these, I’ll scratch my brown hair and just shrug. This is usually followed by her rolling her eyes and saying “whatever.”
You know it’s the first day of school when you wake up to a thousand screams. It’s six in the morning, and I can already tell this day is going to suck. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t stay up all night watching cartoons. As I stand up, I feel my legs shake. I stumble into the bathroom to take a shower. The scorching hot water instantly wakes me up. As I put on my clothes, I contemplate how this year will be. Seeing as how it’s my last year of high school, I want to make it the best.
Driving to school, I can hardly keep my eyes open. How I make it school is beyond me. I grab my bag and walk towards the door. We all look like zombies as we stumble towards the brick hell we call school. Most of us didn’t even know there was an 8 a.m. As I walk through the door, I see my friends Jarrett and Amanda. Jarrett is wearing Amanda’s glasses and wailing his frail, lanky arms about. Amanda’s just standing there with her arms crossed, possibly wonder what it is he’s doing.
“Oh no, what’s your boyfriend doing now?” I ask Amanda. She looks over in shock. I guess I must have startled her. She then pushes her brunette hair out of her face and grins.
“He’s supposed to be acting out what Master Shake did to Meatwad last night on Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” she says.
I grin and say, “Doesn’t he know he’s too tall to pretend he’s Master Shake? After all, Master Shake is a cup.”
She shoot’s a dirty look over at me and says, “Hey! There’s nothing wrong with being tall, shorty!”
“Oh yeah, “I say. “Well, there’s nothing wrong with being short, um, tally!” We both begin to laugh, and by this time Jarrett’s made his way over. He hands Amanda back her glasses, and fluffs his black hair.
“Man, I need a hair cut bad. If I don’t get this crap cut soon, I’m gonna look like Chewbacca!” Jarrett states.
Amanda rolls her eyes and asks “Jarrett, why must everything be a star wars reference?”
Jarrett leans over to me and whispers “The force is weak with this one.” Amanda rolls her eyes again, and Jarrett leans in to give her a kiss on the cheek.
“I love you,“ he says. She grins and kisses him on the lips and says, “I love you too.” I stand there with a look of disgust on my face and say, “You guys are queer. I think I’m gonna go to homeroom now.” They both say bye, and I make my way down the hall.
I was almost through the door when Tiffany came up behind me. “What do you think you’re doing?” she says. I turn around and say, “Well, good morning to you too.” She rolls her eyes and crosses her arms. At this moment I know what’s coming next.
“What do you think you’re wearing?” she says. I look down as though to be checking my clothes and say “Um, clothes?” She releases a big sigh and says, “Why aren’t you wearing that nice polo shirt I bought you? You look like trash in what you’re wearing now.”
“How does a t-shirt and jeans look like trash?” I ask. She opens her mouth to say something, but the bell rings before she can get it out. “Look,” she says. “I’ve got to get to class; can I still come over after school?” “Sure,” I say and walk into homeroom.
In homeroom we received our class schedules. I guess I can’t complain, I got some pretty good classes. For first block I have art. That’s, in my opinion, the perfect classes to start your day off with. You can start your day off slow and kind of work from there. For second block, I have algebra 3. That shouldn’t be too bad. I did pretty well in algebra 2 my sophomore year. However, geometry last year was horrible. I’m still wondering how I passed that class. After algebra I have lunch. Lunch is quite possibly the greatest thing ever. After lunch, I have chemistry. Chemistry shouldn’t be too bad. All we do is a bunch of equations. This, to me, is easier than studying plants. Plus, chemistry is going to be followed by american history, which should be a piece of cake.
As I walk into art, I see Jarrett and Amanda sitting in the back. What are the odds was all I could think as I grinned. I walked over to their table and sat down. It seemed that they were having a pretty heavy conversation, until Jarrett yelled “NO! THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!” At this point I realized Jarrett was talking about Star Wars again. Amanda just rolled her eyes and turned towards me. “Make him stop,” she mouthed towards me.
So to break Jarrett’s “Star Wars marathon”, I said “So, Tiffany’s coming over to my house after school today.” this stops Jarrett immediately.
“Dude, why are you even still with her? She treats you like crap,” he says with a look of disgust.
“I don’t know, “I said. “It’s just she’s there. I mean, I wouldn’t mind breaking up with her, but I don’t want to be single again. If I met someone better, then I’d break up with Tiffany in no time.”
Jarrett just shakes his head and says, “Whatever man, I’m just trying to look after you.” We all sit in silence for awhile. Then Jarrett says “HEY! You guys remember when Princess Leia worse that bikini thing in Return of the Jedi? Man that was so hot.” Amanda playfully smacks his chest while Jarrett kisses her hand. It’s kind of sick how crazy they are for each other.
The rest of art is spent with out usual conversations about cartoons and music. Of course, Jarrett always finds a way to mention Star Wars, but Amanda and I just ignore it. The bell rings, and I make my way to algebra. I pass Tiffany, but she’s with a bunch of her friends. She usually ignores me when her friend’s are around. I’m guessing she’s embarrassed of me. I don’t see why. I mean, everyone knows we go out as it is. As I walk into algebra, I don’t see any of my friends. That’s just great, means I’ll have to actually pay attention; either that or sleep. I’ll most likely end up sleeping.
As I sit down, I notice a girl walk in that I’ve never seen before. At first I just think she must be another new girl, and decide to leave it at that. However, at a closer look I begin to notice her puffy, pink lips. As she pushes her black hair back, I notice her big blue eyes. As I notice these things, my heart begins to speed up. She crosses her arms on her desk, and begins to look around the room. Our eyes make contact, but I quickly look away. I don’t think she realized I was looking at her. The teacher then walks in to begin class.
As I’m walking out of class, I end up behind the new girl. I think about saying something to her, but she turns down the next hall before I get a chance. I continue walking down the hall until I run into my friend Matt. “Dude,” Matt says. “The Blood Brothers are releasing a new album this month!” “That’s cool,” I said as I continue to walk past him.
I get into lunch, and I see Jarrett and Amanda sitting at a table near the back of the lunch room. I walk up to the table, and lay my bag down. “Hold me a sit, will ya?” I ask. They nod yes, and I go get some food. When I sit down, I ask if either of them has talked to matt. Jarrett begins to laugh, and says “Yeah, did he tell you about the new Blood Brothers record?”
“Yeah,” I said. “Why?” Jarrett snickers again. “Is there something I’m missing?” I ask. “Well, I’ve had that record downloaded for months. When Matt told me about it coming out, I told him I had already heard it. Well, now he’s pissed at me,” he said. I shrug, and begin to eat my food.
As I’m trying to cut my pathetic excuse for a piece of meat, I see something move by me out of the corner of my eye. I turn around only to notice that it’s the new girl I saw earlier. As quick as I can, I turn around for fear that she may have noticed me staring at her. I try to go back to eating my lunch as if nothing happened, but I guess Amanda noticed my attempt to avoid eye contact.
“So,” she says. “Why did you just avoid eye contact with Anna?” I try to be all cool and say “I don’t even know an Anna.” She can obviously see right through this.
“Anna, you know, the girl you just now tried to avoid, she just moved to town last week. Her family moved here from New York,” she says. “How do you know all this?” I ask. “Well,” she says. “They moved in right next door to me. So, I’ve kinda sorta, you know, gotten to know her.” I quickly stopped everything I was doing and just stare at her. “Are you serious?” I ask. “Dead,” she replied.
“So,” I begin. “Is she just a pretty face, or is there more to her?” Amanda shoots me an evil glare and says in a very hateful manner “Yes she’s more then a pretty face. She actually likes a lot of the same stuff you do.”
“Really?” I say. “And why didn’t you tell me this earlier?” “Well,” Amanda says. “Are you forgetting about Tiffany?” At this point, Jarrett pops up and says “That’s it!” Amanda and I look at each other with a confused look on our face. I look over at Jarrett and ask “What’s it?”
“Do you not remember what you said in art?” Jarrett says. “You said that if you could find someone better than Tiffany, you’d ditch her. Well, now’s your chance to finally get with someone that you deserve.” At this point, Matt sits down between Amanda and me.
“What are you guys talking about?” asked Matt. “We’re finally getting rid of Tiffany.” said Jarrett. Matt calmly says “That’s cool” and begins eating his roll. “Well,” I say. “I guess I can give it a try, but do you really think she’d date me?” “Totally.” said Amanda. I give a thumb up, and finish the rest of my lunch.
On my way to chemistry, I run into Tiffany. “Where are you going?” she asks me in a very stern manner. “Um, I’m on my way to chemistry.” I say. With this very seductive look on her face, she says “Oh, that’s too bad.” At this point, I am officially very confused, and almost late for class.
“Why’s that?” I ask. Tiffany then places her hands into mine, and leans in towards me and says “Because I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you all day.”
As I’m sure you can imagine, I’m very startled by this. I feel my forehead getting hot, and my pores forcing themselves to release their sweaty tears. “Tiffany,” I say. “Are you feeling alright? Because, I mean, you weren’t acting like this earlier.”
She leans in a little closer and says “Better than ever.” Before I can do or say anything, she leans in further and kisses me on the lips. This startles me a bit, and I don’t really know what to do. So I decide to go along with it, and kiss her back. Then she pulls back and says “There’s more where that came from.” And with that, she began to walk away. At this point the bell rings for class, and I take off running towards chemistry.
After what happened in the hallway with Tiffany, I wasn’t able to concentrate during class. Chemistry and American history seem to go by in a breeze. The next thing I knew, the bell to go home was ringing, and I was out of there. I stopped by my locker to drop off the books I didn’t need. While there, I see Anna walk past. I try not to stare, but I couldn’t help myself. She just has one of those faces that every time you see it, you HAVE to look. You can’t force yourself away from it. You just stare until you don’t notice anything around you, and the only thing you feel will ever be is you staring at this person. As I’m staring, I feel someone poke me in the back. I quickly turn around to see Matt behind me.
“Jesus Matt!” I yell. “You almost scared the crap out of me!” He begins to laugh, and says “Yeah, sorry about that, but your woman told me to come find you.”
“Who? Tiffany?” I ask. “Duh.” he said. “Who else would it be?” I grin and say “You never know Matt, I could have tons of women, and you not know about it.”
We both stand there in silence for a bit, and then bust out laughing. “Yeah, well, you better hurry up outside, or you’re gonna lose one.” Matt says. I tell him thanks, and rush outside.
As soon as I get outside, I begin to look around for Tiffany. While I’m looking, I see Amanda and Jarrett holding hands, walking towards the parking lot. I rush up behind them, and before they notice I’m there, I poke my index fingers into Jarrett’s side. He gives out a yelp, and they quickly turn around.
“Oh, it’s just you. I was worried there for a minute.” Jarrett said. I grin and say “Where are you guys going?” Amanda releases a sigh and says “Don’t ask.” Jarrett rolls he’s eyes and says “We’re going to my house. I got the Star Wars DVD’s yesterday, so I’m making her watch them. You wanna come?” Jarrett asks.
I act like I’m thinking about it, and say “Hmm, being a third wheel to watch a movie, or go to my house with Tiffany. Decisions, decisions. Yeah, I’m just gonna find Tiffany and go to my house, but you kids have fun.” I say. Jarrett gives me a rude look and says “Your lose.”
I look over at Amanda and say “Can you give me a call later? I need to discus something with you?” She nods yes, and they leave. I turn to continue looking for Tiffany when I feel I sharp pain in my back. I turn back around to find out its Tiffany. “Where have you been?” she says in a rude manner. “Did your little friend, Matt I believe his name is, not come find you?”
“Yeah,” I say. “He did. I was coming to find you, but ran into Jarrett and Amanda. I’m sorry, but if you’re ready to go, we can leave now.” She then begins to grin and says “I thought you’d never ask.”
We walk through the parking lot in silence. I, myself, was curious as to what exactly was going to happen at my house. I figured we’d just watch a movie or something. You know, just hang out. But from the look on her face earlier, it seemed to me she had other things in mind.
When I turned on my car, my CD player turned on. Tiffany immediately stopped putting on her seatbelt and said in a very disgust tone “What is this that you’re listening to?”
I sat there for a minute trying to remember what it was, and replied “Um, I believe it’s Thursday.” “Thursday?” she asked. “Like the day of the week?”
“Well, yeah, I guess you could say that.” I said. She then turns her nose up and goes “Well, whatever, just take it out, it’s horrible.” I sat there for a minute in disbelieve.
“What?” I said. She looked over at me with this look that could kill me if she stared long enough. “I said take it out. This guy’s voice is incredibly annoying, and the music sounds like noise. Besides, I brought a CD for us to listen to.” she said.
So, I took the CD out and put it back in its case. After that, we put on our seatbelts, and I begin to drive out of the parking lot. During this, Tiffany puts in her CD she brought. As soon as the first track begins, I look over at her in disbelieve.
“You made me take out Thursday for the Backstreet Boys?” I ask her in disgust. She glares at me and says “Yes, because these guys are actually good, and can sing. Whereas that crap that you had me listening to the singer couldn’t hit a note if he tried.” I just rolled my eyes and continued driving.
When we get to my house my parents aren’t home. That’s usually the case when I get home from school. My mother is at work till 5, and my dad owns his own business, so he’s never home. We get out of the car, and go inside. I lay stuff on the couch and look over at Tiffany.
“So,” I say. “Wanna watch a movie or something?” She slowly begins to walk towards me fiddling with her hands, and softly biting her lower lip. “Well, I had something a little bit more exciting planned, if you catch my drift.” she said.
By this point, she’s right in front of me. She wraps her arms around my neck, and leans in really close to my ear. “Kiss me.” she said. Being one not to turn an order down from a female, I place my hands on her hips, and pull her closer. I quickly lick my lips, and lean in to kiss her. She then places one of her hands on the back of my head, and begins to tug a little at my hair as we kiss. Tiffany then pulls back, and slowly pulls her arms away from my neck. She then grabs my shirt and says “Come with me.”
She pulls me into my bedroom, and throws me on the bed. I look around to make sure there wasn’t anything on my bed, and Tiffany crawls on top of me. She then pulls my shirt off, and gives me a kiss on the lips. With this very seductive look on her face, she pulls her shirt off. “I’ve been waiting for this all day.” she said, and we begin kissing again.
Afterwards we cuddle in my bed for awhile. With my arm around her, and her hair in my face, I take nice little soft sniffs of her hair. It’s moments like these that I wish we could work out. I close my eyes due to the fact of how relaxed I’m feeling, when I hear a car door shut. I quickly shoot up in bed, and look over at the clock.
“Holy crap!” I yelled. Tiffany, still lying down, whispers “What is it?” I look over at her, and say with a panicked voice “Its 5:30, my mom’s home!” We both jump out of bed as soon as we hear the front door open. In less then a second, we’re on the floor trying to find our clothes. By the time I get my pants on, she’s only got her underwear on, and I’m hearing footsteps coming towards my room. I look back over at her, and she’s got her pants on. “Where’s my shirt?” she whispers my way. I look down and realize its right in front of me. I bend down, and throw it at her.
By the time we both have our shirts on, my mother knocks on the door, we quickly sit on the bed, and I say “come in.” She comes in, and looks at us startled. “Oh, Tiffany.” she said. “I didn’t realize you were coming over today.”
Tiffany slowly twirls a strand of her hair, and says “Yeah, I’m sorry for not letting you guys knows in advance. I just didn’t want to go home right after school. I don’t like being in my house all alone.” My mother smiles and says “That’s very understandable. Are you going to be staying for dinner?”
Tiffany quickly says “No, I’ve got a lot of homework I need to work on. I should actually be leaving now.” “Very well.” says my mom. She then closes the door and walks away. I look over at Tiffany, and we both burst into laughter. “Well,” I say. “I better go ahead and take you home.” Tiffany picks up her stuff, and we leave.
As I’m driving back from taking Tiffany home, I begin to think about Anna. I know it’s bad of me to be dating one girl, yet spending all my time thinking of another, but I can’t help it. There’s just something about that Anna girl that has me hooked.
I then pick up my cell phone, and call Amanda. It rings two or three times, then she picks up. “Hello?” she said. I hear some really loud noises in the background over the phone. “Hey.” I said. “Is everything alright over there?”
“Yeah, why?” she said. “I’m just hearing a lot of noise in the background, I was just curious.” I said.
Amanda then laughs and says “Yeah that would be Jarrett watching Star Wars.” “And what are you doing?” I ask.
She sits there for a minute, then replies “Doing homework, or at least trying to do homework.”
“Oh.” I said. “Well, I was just calling to talk to you about Anna. I really need you to help me out.”
“Why do you need my help?” she asked. “Because,” I said. “I’m weird when it comes to girls. I feel if you talk to her for me, she’d probably actually give me a chance, whereas if I talked to her, she’d probably just turn me down.”
“Good point,” she said. “As soon as I get off, I’ll call her and talk to her. I guess I’ll just tell you what she says tomorrow at school.”
“Alright,” I say. “Well, you have fun doing your homework. I guess I’ll just see you later, bye.” Amanda then said bye, and I hung up. I then pull into my driveway, and walk inside to begin my homework.
I woke up at midnight face down in my chemistry book. There was a note from my mom beside my head telling me that my dinner was in the microwave. I quietly went into the kitchen, and opened the door to the microwave. Oh great, I thought, meatloaf. I take the plate out, and throw the food into the trash. I then fix myself a glass of water, and grab a pop tart. I go back into my room to see if anyone’s online at this time of night, but everyone is asleep. I eat my pop tart, and finish up the homework I was working on before I fall asleep.
After I finish, I decide to try to go to bed, but that was a lost cause. I couldn’t sit still. I had so many things running through my mind. Things, such as what I was going to do with Tiffany, if Anna would ever like me, whether or not Amanda actually called her, stuff like that. So I decide to watch TV to try, and help me go to bed. For three hours I laid there staring at the TV with a blank expression on my face. Eventually, I drift off to sleep.
I woke today 30 minutes late for school. At first I panicked, but then I figured since I’ve already missed half of art, I’d just show up for algebra. I got out of bed, and went straight for the shower. After that woke me up a bit, I put on my clothes and grabbed a pop tart. I then grabbed my books, and got in my car. Halfway to school, I remembered I had forgotten to grab a CD to listen to. Since I was already running late, I decided to go without it.
When I got to school, there was a soul to be found. It’s creepy how busy the parking lot is before school, yet when school’s going on its dead. I parked my car, and then began my walk towards the school. I was almost through the door when I heard my name called from behind me. I turned around, and it was the principle. “Yes sir?” I said. He gave me a stern look and said “I hope you’ve got a good excuse as to why you are late.” I stood there for a minute trying to think of something to say. I finally said “Well, honestly, I just woke up late.” Apparently that wasn’t the best thing for me to say, for now I have D-hall for the next two weeks.
By the time I entered algebra, they had already begun class. As soon as I walked through the door, everyone’s eyes turned to meet mine. Terrified, I tried to grin, and sat down at the closest sit I could find.
After I had calmed down, and gotten back to my senses, I realized where I was sitting. I had sat down right in front of Anna. At first I think the worst. I keep thinking she must be wondering why I sat by her in the most horrible way possible. I try to calm myself down, but the harder I try not to think about it, the more it dwells in me. After we get done taking notes, I decide to speak to her in order to calm myself down. I slightly turn around in my desk and say “So, did I miss anything?”
She slightly looks up from her work. The look she’s giving me could slice me in a thousand bits. Yet I find it to be the most attractive thing I’ve ever seen. She clears her throat and says “I don’t help those that don’t give their time of day to try.” This immediately knocks me back into my seat. I grin, and lower my head as I turn back around. Note to self: don’t talk to girls during class.
On my way to lunch, I run into Tiffany. She grabs my arm, and pulls me into a corner in the hallway. “What is it?” I ask, kind of panicked.
“I called you twice last night, and no one answered. If you were in my shoes, you’d be pissed too.” She said. “Look,” I said. “As soon as I got home, I tried to do some homework, and fell asleep. I apologize, but I was tired.” For some reason this makes her grin. She rubs her hands up my chest and says “Well, I can imagine you were after what we did yesterday.”
It’s amazing; the only time she acts like she cares about me is when we have sex. This makes me furious. I grab her arms and throw them on her sides and say “Well, don’t expect anything like to happen again.” I then turn, and make my way towards the lunch room. “Jerk!” she yelled, but I was already halfway down the hall, and too far out of my mind to care.
When I get into the lunch room, I notice Amanda sitting by herself at our table. I walk over and ask, “So, where’s Jarrett at today?” “He wasn’t feeling very good today.” she replied. “Did he really not feel good, or is he faking it?” I ask. “No,” she starts. “He’s really sick. He was throwing up all last night. I just hope he’s alright. Also I hope I don’t catch what he’s got, because I’m not about to spend a day throwing up.” I nod my head as to agree, and stare at my bag for awhile. Then I ask “So, did you ever talk to Anna last night?” This immediately perks her up.
“Yeah!” she said. “I told her that I had this friend that was looking to date someone new and exciting. She said she’d be up for it.” This immediately perks me up. “Really?!” I ask. “Did you tell her who I was?” From the expression on her face that I’m receiving, I already know the answer.
“No, I figured it wouldn’t matter, why you ask?” she said. “Oh,” I said. “Well, you know I do have a class with her; I guess I just figured you would have. Oh well, it doesn’t matter now. With what happened today, I’m sure she won’t be interested.”
“What happened?” she asked, with a concerned tone in her voice. “Well, I walked into algebra late today, and I ended up sitting in front of her. After we took notes, I kinda looked at it as a good time to talk to her. So I asked her if I missed anything, and she acted really rude with me” I said.
“Yeah, she hates lazy people. She’s very straight laced.” she said. “How so?” I ask. “Well, she does everything by the book, it seems. She does well in school, she never gets in trouble. She just always does things the right way.” she replied. I pondered for a minute on what she said. I begin to think how drastic of a change it would be for me to go from Tiffany to Anna. I released a big sigh and said “That sounds great. So, get me a date with her, and I guess we’ll see where it goes from there.” Amanda agreed, and got up to go to the library. She said she had some last minute homework to do. So I sat there waiting for Matt to show up, but I guess he was out sick too.
After lunch, I tried to rush to chemistry so as not to run into Tiffany; mission failed. Right when I was going through the door, I felt something hit me on the back of my head. I turn around, and Tiffany was standing right behind me. “What exactly is the matter with you?” she asked with a look of disgust on her face. “Nothing, I just didn’t want to talk about what happened yesterday, that’s all.” I replied. “Why?” she asked. “Was it not good for you?” By this point I was just getting furious with her, but I forced myself to keep my cool. I just released a big sigh, and calmly said “Look, it’s not important. Now please, can I get to class now?” This obviously pissed her off. She pointed her nose up in the air, turned around, and stomped away.
When I walked into chemistry, the room seemed a lot different from yesterday. I checked to make sure I was in the right room. Apparently I was, so I walked in and took a seat in the back. I looked around the room, and wouldn’t you know, there across the room was Anna. Yesterday, I must’ve been so out of it that I didn’t realize it before. But there she was now, sitting over there in all her beauty. I couldn’t help but grin, as I watched her push her hair out of her face as she read. It’s amazing the things you notice when you really focus on something.
After chemistry, I tried to catch up to Anna in the hallway. I got behind her, and tapped her on her shoulder. She turned around in excitement, but then gave me a look of disappointment. “Oh,” she said. “It’s you.” “Look, I just wanted to apologize for earlier. I was just trying to be nice, and start up a conversation. I’m sorry if I bothered you or anything.” I said. “Next time, spare me.” she replied, as she stomped down the hallway. Twice in a row that’s happened, can’t beat that.
Furious with myself, I went to history, hoping to clear my mind. Well, that didn’t work out the way I wanted it to. Instead I spent the whole class dwelling on what had happened when I tried to speak to Anna. If this is how it’s going to be, I’d be better off staying with Tiffany. But I can stay with Tiffany, because I absolutely I have to get away from her as soon as possible. Frustrated with the situation, I laid my head down, and drifted off to sleep.
I woke up right when the bell to leave rang. I grabbed my book, and started walking towards my car. Halfway across the parking lot, I heard someone yell out my name. I turned around, and it was the principle. “Aren’t we forgetting something?” he said to me, as he got up in my face. I checked my hands and said “No sir, I have all my homework.” This apparently just made him madder. He then grabbed my neck and said “Come with me.” Terrified, I just went along with it. He walked me back into the school, and to the D-hall room. That’s when I remembered about the D-hall slip I had got earlier. “Now just for that little move you pulled, you get another two days of D-hall. And if I don’t see you in here everyday after school this week, I’m going to be forced to call your mom, and possibly suspend you.” he said. I said “Yes sir”, and walked in with my head lowered in shame.
As soon as I walked in, I noticed Matt sitting in the back. I walked over, and sat next to him. At least I’m not going to have to go through this alone. “What did you get D-hall for?” I asked him. “Instead of going to lunch today, I went outside and had a smoke or two. I was finishing up my third one, when the principle came outside and caught me. So no I have D-hall all week.” he said with pride. “Well, don’t feel too bad, I do too apparently.” I said. Matt turned towards me in shock, and said “What did YOU do?” I grinned, and said “Shot up heroine in the bathroom.”
You could literally see Matt’s brain trying to grasp what I just said. He’s jaw nearly hit the table, and he said “Really?!” I laughed, and replied, “No, I was just late to school this morning, and got caught. I was just about to leave, forgetting all about the fact that I had D-hall, and got caught ‘skipping’. So now I’m here all week.” Matt shrugged, and laid his head down. I took that as a cue, and decided to draw for the next hour.
After D-hall, I walked towards my car to go home. Halfway there I heard someone running up behind me. Why is it everyone has to come up behind me? I turned around, and it was Amanda. “What are you still doing here?” I asked. “I was about to ask you the same thing.” she replied.
“I got D-hall, and I just got out. Now, why are you still here?” I asked. “Oh, I decided to stay after school, and work on some school work I had. I came out here to leave when I saw your car here. So I decided I’d wait till you came out from whatever you were doing.” she said. “Why?” I asked shocked. “Well, I talked to Anna today, and you have a date with her tomorrow.” she said with excitement.
“Really?! Did you finally tell her who I was?!” I asked. She kind of stood there for a minute, and said “Well, no, but she’s gonna find out tomorrow!” I grinned, and said “Well, I have to get going.” We said our goodbyes, and each went home.
When I got home, my parents were home. As soon as I walked through the door, my mother came running in. “Where have you been?” she asked with a concerned tone in her voice. “I got D-hall for being late this morning. I’m sorry, I know I should have called, but I just completely forgot.” I replied. “Well, let’s just make sure that doesn’t happen again.” she said. I then went into my room and lay down to take a nap. That, however, didn’t happen. I couldn’t stop thinking about Anna; I ended up just tossing and turning in my bed.
After an hour of my failed attempt to sleep, I got up and decided to eat something. I went into the kitchen and fixed myself a sandwich, and stuffed it down in no time. I then went back into my room, and checked my e-mail. I had about 10 new messages; 8 of which were junk mail. The other two was messages from Tiffany. I found this very odd, seeing as how she never e-mails me, ever. I opened them up, and read each. Turned out they were both the same e-mail. She must have accidentally sent them twice. The e-mail was basically your typical ‘I’m sorry, I love you, blah blah blah’ e-mail. Still furious with her, I just deleted it. I then got up from my computer, and watched TV till I fell asleep.
The next day I woke up early, and even ended up at school on time. The last thing I needed was another day of D-hall. After I parked my car, I went into the school building. There wasn’t a soul to be found. I looked at my watch, and saw that it was ten minutes till classes started. I walked around the school for awhile looking for someone, anyone. I turned down the next hall, and there was the janitor mopping the floors.
“Excuse me,” I said. “But why isn’t anyone here?” He looked up from his mopping and said “Did you not hear, kid? School was cancelled today due to a bomb threat.” I couldn’t believe it, I got up early and everything to be on time, and we don’t even have school.
Furious, I walked back to my car to go back home. Completely oblivious to the fact that the janitor was at the school while under a bomb threat. I guess it really doesn’t matter. I got in my car, and started it up. I pulled out of the school, and made my way home when my cell phone rang. When I looked at the screen to see who was calling, I noticed it was Tiffany. Oh great, I thought. She must now we don’t have school today. I turn down my radio, and pick up the phone. “Hello?” There’s a slight pause before she says anything. Then she says “Hey sweetie! What’cha doin’?” Completely shocked and pretty confused I replied, “Um, oh nothing, just driving home.”
“Home?” she asked. “Why are you driving home this early in the morning? Did you go somewhere last night?”
“No, I just left school after I found out it was cancelled due to a bomb threat.” I said. “Ooooohhh,” she said. “Well, you wanna come pick me up or something; No one’s home. We could, you know, have a little fun.”
I sit there for a minute, and say “Sure, be there in a minute.” As soon as I get that out, she hangs up. Lovely, isn’t she?
When I pull in her driveway, she’s sitting on her front porch waiting for me. I got out of the car, and began to walk towards her. “What took you so long, my sweet?” she asked.
“Are you feeling alright?” I ask. Her eyes your far past bloodshot. I’m amazed that blood wasn’t leaking out of them. She begin to giggle, and says “No, no, no, I’m fine. Really, I’m just high.” “High?” I ask furiously. “Why?” She begins to laugh again and says “Don’t be such a wuss, there’s nothing wrong with getting high.”
Furious, I pull out my keys, and walk towards my car. “Where do you think you’re going?!” I hear Tiffany yell behind me.
I turn around, and yell “I can’t handle this! I can’t handle your crap! Nor do I want to handle it. You need help, Tiffany.” I then open my door, and get into my car. Before I start the car, I hear her yelling
“That’s right you can’t handle this! I knew I was far too sexy for you, but I just HAD to feel sorry for you. I just HAD to screw you. Well, screw you! I loved you! I really did! Look at me!!” I look up from my sit, and she’s standing there with the saddest, most pathetic look on her face. For a minute I feel sorry for her. I think about stepping out of the car, and running towards her, showering her with kisses. That is until she opened her mouth.
She grabs at the middle of her shirt, and rips it off screaming “Get out, and do me now!” At that, I just shook my head, and started my car. When I pulled out of her driveway, she started running towards my car. As soon as I was onto her road, I put my car in drive and slammed on the gas. I couldn’t even look back to see if she was still following me.
I get to my house, and I notice I have a message on my answering machine. I hit play, and it’s Amanda. “Hey,” she begins. “I was just calling you to remind you of your date tonight. I saw the dress Anna’s gonna wear, it’s extremely cute. You’ll love it. Anyways, be at my house at 6, and be dressed to kill; if you catch my drift.” I smile, and delete the message.
I look at my watch to see what the time is. It’s only eleven. I throw my books down, and take off my shoes. Lying on my bed, I begin to dream about how the date will go. I picture us lying on the grass talking, and laughing. Then we’re holding hands, and glaring into each other’s eyes as if we’re trying to pear into one another’s souls. Then I vision us floating there the air holding each other close, kissing as we float towards the stars. With that being my final thought, I drift off to sleep.
I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing. I sit up, and look at the clock to see what time it is, thinking that it must be Amanda calling, because I’m late. It’s only four, so I roll out the fact that it could be Amanda. I pick up the phone, “Hello?” There’s a slight pause on the other end, then I hear “Hi, this is Tom from Bellsouth, and…” immediately I hang up the phone. Afterwards, I decide to get ready for my big date
When I stepped into the shower, I was amazed as to how good the water felt splashing on my face. After rinsing off, I dry off and stare into the mirror. I check my teeth to make sure there’s nothing between them. Then I check my breath, to see if I need some mouth wash. I decided to use some anyways, just to be on the safe side. After that, I blow dried my hair, and brushed it; trying all sorts of different styles. I then walk into my room, and open my closet.
I look at the rows upon rows of t-shirts and blue jeans. Digging through the clothes, I see the polo shirt Tiffany bought me in the back. I pull it out, and stare at it. I begin to think about the beginning of this week when she was yelling at me for not wearing it. Without another thought, I throw the shirt in the trash. I dig deeper and deeper into my closet trying to find something suitable to wear. Then I come across the perfect thing, a sweater I had got for Christmas last year. I haven’t worn it before, mainly because I haven’t had an occasion to wear it for. It’s a blue sweater with gray, yellow, and black strips across the chest. I pull it out, and grab the best pair of jeans I could find.
After I dress, I look into a full length mirror. Doing twirls, I keep thinking how good this date is going to be. I go to my sock drawer, and dig for the best pair of dress socks I can find. Buried in the back, I find a pair that matches my sweater perfectly. I grin, and pull them out to put on. When I slip on my shoes, I look at my clock to make sure I’m not running late. It’s a good thing I did, for when I glanced I noticed it was already 5:20. Quickly, I throw on some cologne, and slip on my watch. I grab a few CD’s, my keys, and my phone, and make my way out of the house. I climb into my car, and put one of my CD’s into my CD player, get a piece of gum, and start my car up. By 5:30, I’m on the road making my way to Amanda’s house.
According to what Amanda has told me, today is going to be a double date sort of thing. It’ll be Anna and I, with Jarrett and Amanda. I guess that’s to make it not so uncomfortable. Plus, I believe we’re going to a party of some sorts. She didn’t really give me the details, but I don’t care. As long as everything between Anna and I go well, I’ll be fine. Pondering this, that’s when I remember; Anna hates me. The last two times I’ve talked to her, she’s been nothing but rude to me. This slightly depresses me. Before I have time to cancel, or turn back, I pull into Amanda’s driveway.
I knock on her door, and she immediately opens it. “Wow, you must be excited; you’re right on time for once.” she says with a grin. With my head slightly held down, I walk in and say “I was, but what if she sees who she’s going with and decides not to go? I mean, we’ve already had a few run-ins here and there.” Amanda sighs and says “Well, worst comes to worst, you still have Tiffany, I suppose.”
“Yeah,” I start. “I meant to tell you about that, we’re kinda through now.” Shocked, Amanda says “What happened?” I tell her all about how I went to school, and found out it wad cancelled. Then I told her how I went to Tiffany’s house afterwards, and she was stoned beyond the point of sanity. Then I told her how I told Tiffany that it was over. Amanda sat there just nodding, I’m guessing, not knowing what to say. At that point, Jarrett comes running into the room out of nowhere.
“DUDE!!!!!” he screams. “TONIGHT WE GONNA PARTY!!!” We all sit there in silence for a bit, then bust into laughter. “What were you guys talking about, anyways?” asked Jarrett. “Well, Tiffany is no more” Amanda says.
Apparently excited, Jarrett jumps up with joy. “It’s about time!” he yelled. “So,” he begins. “Now you just need to put your moves on Anna, and you’ll be set.” Right after Jarrett says ‘set’, there’s a knock at the door. We all look towards the door. I freeze in fear, not knowing whether to run and hide, or answer the door. Amanda and Jarrett both look at me. “It’s up to you.” Amanda says. Calmly, with my legs shacking, I get up to answer the door.
As I reach for the door knob, I feel my stomach begin to twist. I can’t recall a time I’ve felt as nervous as I do now. I slowly turn the knob, my eyes fixed on the floor for fear of Anna’s expression when she notices me in the doorway. I turn the knob as far as it’ll go, and quickly pull the door open.
I slowly look up to see her expression. For a second, all my worries went away. All I could think about at that moment was how beautiful this girl in front of me was. Amanda was right, her dress was amazing. She was wearing a Black dress with a pink border at the bottom, and a little pink strip across her chest. To complete this outfit, she was wearing pink argyle socks, and black converse shoes. I feel my mouth slowly begin to grin. That is, until Anna spoke. She released a big sigh, and said “Oh great, YOU’RE Amanda’s friend. And here I thought she would actually set me up with someone classy.” I gave her a sarcastic grin, and walked back into the room where Amanda and Jarrett were at.
Anna walked in, and shut the door. She came into the room with the rest of us, and sat down in the chair furthest away from me. “So,” Anna said. “What exactly are we doing tonight?” “Well, this is the plan,” Amanda said. “We have this friend named Keenan who has this awesome band called a drama party production. Tonight they’re playing at this basement party. I figured we could hit that up for an evening of excitement.”
“I’m down with that” I said. Anna sat there with a confused look upon her face, and then asked “What’s a basement party?” Jarrett quickly spoke up before anyone else got a chance to explain it. “Basically, it’s a bunch of people hanging out in a basement while a band plays. There’s usually alcohol there, and other sorts of drugs, but we usually avoid them. Well, except for the alcohol.” I could tell by the look on Anna’s face that she was not amused. “Well,” Amanda said. “Let’s get going, Jarrett’s driving.”
In the car, Anna and I sat in the back while Amanda sat in the front with Jarrett. We sat there in silence for awhile. I took a quick glance over at Anna, and I could tell she was miserable. She had her elbow resting on the window seal with her hand on her forehead, as she stared out the window. I figured I should be nice, and say something. So I clear my throat, and ask “So, what’s your favorite band?”
She shoots me an evil look, and asks “Why do you care?” This makes me furious. “Look,” I say. “There’s two ways we can go about this. One is for us to act like jerks to each other the whole night, and never speak to each other again. Or two, we can actually try to have fun, and possibly never speak to each other again. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind going with choice number two.” For a moment, she seems to be thinking this through, as to be deciding to be nice to me. However, I was wrong. “Well I, for one, wouldn’t mind going with choice one.” she says. Upset, I spent the rest of the car ride staring at the road signs out of the window.
When we arrive to the house, the band was just getting set up. Jarrett parked his car, and we begin to walk towards the house. We’re about to open the door to go in, when we hear someone yelling for us. We turn around, and there’s matt running towards us with a cigarette in his mouth. “Hey guys, what’s up?” he says, out of breath. “Nothing really, just here to have some fun” Jarrett said. “Cool.” was all Matt said. “So,” Amanda said. “Can we go in, or are we going to stand outside for the rest of the night?” With that we all walked in.
As soon as we walked in, Jarrett and Amanda went and got a beer, while I was left alone with Anna. “So I’m guessing you don’t want me to talk to you for the rest of the night, right?” I asked. Looking away, she said “You would be correct.” Frustrated, I yelled “Fine” at her, and went to find Matt. I searched the whole room, and he was nowhere to be found. I stepped outside to see if he was there, and I saw him sitting on the back of his car having a cigarette. I came up, and sat down next to him.
“So,” Matt said. “Who’s that girl you’re with?” I released a slight sigh and said “That’s Anna. She was supposed to be my date for this, but she’s been really rude to me. It kinda hurts my feelings, because I really like her a lot, you know.” Matt nodded his head, and then said “Wait, what happened to Tiffany?” “Oh, we broke up this afternoon” I said. “Sucks” was all Matt could say. He then threw his cigarette butt on the ground, and said “Well, we might as well go in, the bands about to start any minute.” We both jumped down, and made our way back into the house.
As soon as we walked in, the band was just about to start. I looked around to see if I could see Anna. She was sitting by herself in the same spot I left her staring at her watch. It really does break my heart to see her sitting there alone, but I know if I try to speak to her, she’ll just get madder at me. I then feel someone grab my arm, and I’m being pulled towards the band.
“Come on! You’re going to miss it!” Jarrett says. As soon as I get to the front, the band begins their first song. We all break into hand claps, butt shaking, and all sorts of goodies. Well, everyone but Anna. It goes on like this for about 3 songs, and then they begin to play this slow song. Everyone grabs their lady, and they all begin to slow dance.
I look around to try and find Matt, so I’d have someone to hang out with. But he was nowhere to be found. I looked around the room for anyone that was by themselves. That’s when I saw Anna still sitting there staring at her watch, arms crossed, disgusted look on her face. I walk up to her, my heart beating faster and faster with each step. As soon as I get in front of her, she looks up at me. I hold out my hand, and ask “Would you like to dance?”
She stands up, pushes me away, and says “Screw you.” She then storms out of the room. I swear I feel a thousand eyes are staring at me right now. Without thinking, I run outside to try and catch her.
As soon as I get outside, I see Matt’s car is gone. That’s really odd, because usually he never misses a basement party. He loves those things. I guess he must have found something else to do. I begin to look around for Anna. I run towards the back of the house, and see her sitting around back with her hair in a mess trying to light a cigarette. I slowly walk up towards her, and without thinking, I ask “You smoke?” Frustrated, she slams her fists down, and says “I’m trying to, now would you just leave me alone!” I nod, and turn to walk away. I take three steps and stop. I think to myself, there’s no way I’m going to let her do this to me. This is my night to, after all.
I turned around, and walked towards her. I sat down next to her, and take the cigarette and lighter from her. I put the cigarette between my lips, and lit it with the lighter. I then gave her the lit cigarette, and her light back. The whole time she was just staring at me. “You smoke?” she asked. “No, but I do know how to light one.” I said. She takes a drag off the cigarette, and blows out the smoke.
“Did you know you were going to be on this, so called, date with me tonight?” she asked. I picked up a piece of grass, and begin to tear it apart. “Yeah, I did.” I said, nervously.
“Why did you agree to go? I mean, I’ve been nothing but rude to you.” Anna asked as she put out her cigarette butt. “Because I” I begin, but quickly stop myself. “You know what, forget it. It’s not important.” She looks over at me, and says “No, tell me. It sounds like you actually have something of importance to say.”
I threw down the blade of grass I was pulling apart, and said “I, well, I kinda, you know, like you.” Clearly shocked by this, she stares at me blankly. “But why?” she says “I was completely rude to you yesterday, and today.” “I know” I say. “But, you’re beautiful. And I don’t care about anything else, because your beauty automatically rules everything else out. I mean, I realize this makes me sound like a jerk. I probably sound like a rapist, or something. But what I mean is, ever since I first saw you, I thought to myself ‘I have to date this girl.’ I meant that in a nonsexual way as well. All I wanted to do is take you out for a drink, and just listen to you talk for hours on in. But, from the way you’ve acted towards me tonight, I realize that’ll never happen.”
I put my hands on the ground to push myself up, when I feel her hand on top of mine. I quickly stop, and look over at her hand on top of mine. Slowly, I look up into her eyes. “Well,” she said. “Maybe I can make up for it.” We both sit there for a moment staring into each others eyes. Slowly we each lick our lips, and lean forward. As soon as her lips touched against mine, I could swear fireworks were going off in the distance.
The End
