The recent typhoon, Sendong, has devastated northern Mindanao leaving a lot of people homeless and some even lost their loved ones. It also happened during the time when people are preparing and looking forward to the holidays. No one would have guessed nor wanted that they will spend it in an evacuation center or worse, mourning.
The rain has stopped and the flood has receded but it will take a while before they will be able to get back on their feet again. Houses can be rebuilt and businesses can be put up again but the lost of a loved one will be harder to overcome. And sadly, for that we can only say prayers for them--to have strength and faith to move on from the loss of their loved ones.
But it doesn't mean we can't do anything. In our own little way, using what we have and sharing our talents, we can reach out to them. That is how help_pilipinas was formed. We want to gather fanfiction writers and artists who would like to have their works auctioned. The proceeds will be used to help out the victims of the calamity.
