My college roommate worked in the Printing & Mailing department for a year and she told me that she once told me how much she enjoyed her 2 hour shifts - that she would race herself and try to beat her best time at collating, copying, etc. I'm glad I don't work for P&M, but there is something that I still find meditative and pleasing about repetitive office work. I just finished creating the first reprint of issues 1-6 of the Urban Spook Show. I especially enjoy the sound that the pages make when I crease them down the middle before stapling. The seventh issue is within sight.
Other projects it's nice to think about, if I get to them this weekend or not:
*Fuzzy bear-ear hat for Wallace so she won't be cold at work
*Learning how to silkscreen patches
*Yard-Tree painting
*Pink throw pillows
*Postcards
*Thank-you packages for Greg+Philip, Aude+Karrie
*Planning the garden
I am glad I don't live in Chicago because it's cold enough in Lexington today. Maybe when it comes time to make the choice I might trade weather for a different kind of excitement.
Sometimes I miss living with a quilter.
