My sister is slowly getting better. She is staying with her daughter right now. They can't do surgery on her orbit, so it is going to have to heal on its own. It's painful, but she's getting there. The police say that this man has attacked several other women in the area. Apparently, he's a serial rapist and he has attacked three other women this past month.
One thing that intrigues as well as irritates me: my sister was foolish enough to not bring her seeing eye dog with her when she went to the store. She figured a five minute walk wouldn't make that much of a difference. Well, someone told my mom (in an attempt to give comfort) that the dog is trained to be very non-aggressive and wouldn't have attacked a human being no matter what, so it would have been ineffective even if she had brought her along. Outside of the obvious, that the guy probably wouldn't have bothered a woman with a dog anyway, I still think this is bull. I don't think a dog trained to protect a blind person would do nothing if that person were attacked. But tomorrow, I think I'm going to call the association and find out exactly what kind of training they do receive, and how she would most likely have reacted. Just to be certain.
In other news, the epidurals didn't work. So, next Tuesday, they are going to do some kind of hip, joint injection thingy. I don't really understand it, but it's a little different from the epidurals they've been doing. We'll see.
Also, just trying to get flights for my trip, which will hopefully be by the end of the month. And finding a good shipping company for all my stuff. Whoo! Busy, busy.
