Bio writing

I swear, writing bios is one of the hardest things for performers to do. It is so hard to write glowing descriptions of yourself and your work. You just need to come out and say, "I am the shit!" and "Hire me now!" or, "Come to my show!" or "Aren't you glad I'm singing at this thing? I am so cool and it was totally worth the money and time to come and see me!" That's what we really mean to say with all the flowery talk and endless lists of "stuff we've done".

OK, now that I got that out, maybe I can make more progress on my current bio writing project. This time, I am writing a short bio for an upcoming jazz gig. I currently have a long bio but it is too long. Snore. I need to make it short and sweet, baby. And that is hard.

I've recently been into writing bios for different things. Of course, I have my opera bio. I recently wrote up a teaching bio and I have a jazz bio. I have a writing bio now, too. I need short versions of all of these things because sometimes less is more.

I will get it done and then I will be so pleased. And it will work for a while, until I get even cooler stuff to put in it. Because as you know, we can never rest on our laurels. Never. There is always the quest for the next gig.
