A Tribble Trap

Apr 07, 2010 01:22

After Miss Chapel's sighting of a strange furry creature in her quarters, I just had to find out if that was what I'd seen during my less-than-successful hunt. So, desperate for validation, I opened the wall access panel and laid a trap to lure one of the creatures into my quarters. It was just a primitive box-and-stick trap, and I provided some ( Read more... )

Probably because you eat all the food before the tribbles can get to it! You're welcome to visit the ones in the lab, if you're that curious. I'm going down there soon anyway to run a little experiment to see if they eat plant matter.

Excellent! I'll definitely need backup in case something goes horribly wrong they try to escape. I hope cooing furballs didn't make your list of fears.

DO NOT FEED THEM.

For the love of God, do not feed them.

I won't try to feed them a lot-just enough to see if they'll even take it. I'm hoping they won't. I just need some peace of mind. Or a reason to batten down the hatches.

Mine likes grain. Just a little bit. A pinch. Every two days or so. Oh, and protein nibs.

It really likes protein nibs. A lot.

Can't say whether they'll eat actual plants. Just keep the amounts tiny, please. I've got a couple hundred down in the engine room and I'd really like to not have to worry about them getting into the rest of the ship.

If I were you, I'd batten down the hatches.

Hmm, OK-I'll make sure I keep them away from the cereal grasses...I'm more worried about how they take to leafy greens, fruits, and veggies. I suspect they're like most of the crew, since they seem to like their junk food. If I accidentally overfeed one, I'll just throw it in your boiler with the others-what's one more tribble among hundreds?

Laddie, if you overfeed one, it won't be just one more tribble. It'll be a lot of more tribbles.
