Hanild: *makes her way to the couch and, seeing Wulf apparently asleep, kneels on the floor and begins gathering Gram's toys*
Wulf: *opens one eyes at the small sounds, blinks and focuses* Uh, hi?
Hanild: *turns his way and smiles* Hi. Gram's with Jade?
Wulf: The baby? Yes. *sitting up, pulling the blanket around himself* You're alive, aren't you?
Hanild: *frowns slightly* Yes, I'm still alive. Haven't gotten myself killed, or killed myself, so you don't have to worry. ...not that I'm entirely sure you would.
Wulf: I'm not worried. *blinks, puzzled* I just mean you're different from anyone here I've seen, except the baby. *tilting his head* You have the most beautiful hair.
Hanild: *raises eyebrows* Um, thank you. Why do you keep calling him the ba...oh. *faces falls* You don't remember, do you?
Wulf: His name is Gram, I remember that. Jade told me. *he sounds a little wary now, pulling the blanket close* Should I know you?
Hanild: *under her breath* Dammit. *sighs heavily and nods* We knew each other. What do you remember? Before being here, I mean.
Wulf: Nothing. But I dream. Perhaps I'll remember more later. *he regards her thoughtfully, innocent but not stupid* You...didn't like me very much, did you.
Hanild: More than most people do. I didn't exactly know you all that well, nor you I for that matter, but I think we were learning. *offers a small smile*
Wulf: Maybe it's easier this way, then. *smiles back, cautiously* Did I like you? I can't imagine I didn't.
Hanild: *furrows brow, thinking* I don't know. You said you loved me once, a long time ago, but I honestly have no idea how you felt about me now.
Wulf: We just met. How could I love you? *it's honest, not cruel* But it could be interesting to find out. I mean...I'm already interested in you, aren't I? *chuckle* I could just have pretended to be asleep until you went away.
Hanild: *bemused* Apparently you have without meeting me before. And I would have woken you up eventually. *thoughtfully* You really don't remember anything about me?
Wulf: Not yet. *slides off of the sofa to sit cross-legged on that ground before her, oddly graceful* Jade said important things would come back later, though. Will I see you again? She says all I need to do is sign some
paperwork. *shrug* I suppose I died.
Hanild: *nods slowly* Yes, you did...and she's letting you out. I don't think you have anywhere to go once you're back, though. *hesitates* Do you want to see me again?
Wulf: I'd like to. I can't think where I'd go otherwise. Gram's yours? Jade seemed to think he was important, and important that I know his name.
Hanild: *closes her eyes briefly, not sure how much to tell* He's...my son, yes. You could come stay in Aldburg with us. It might not be easy for you to live there, though.
Wulf: Why not? Where is it? What's wrong with it? *frowning, uncomprehending*
Hanild: Ah. *sighs* Well, it's Rohan, and there's nothing wrong with it. It's the most beautiful country ever. It's just...most people there look like me. *touches her hair* And a lot of them don't like people who look like you. They'll be civil at least, if I tell them to be.
Wulf: *considers her blonde locks, then ducks his head to stare at his shaggy black bangs* Oh... That's not fair, is it.
Hanild: No, it's not. It's been like that for a very long time, though, so it's hard to change. *considers* I suppose Gram will help that when he's King.
Wulf: *solemnly, trying not to laugh* That might be a long time. ... Hang on. That means you're a queen?
Hanild: *smiles* Princess. But I'm next in line.
Wulf: *guessing* Then...the king is your father, and you're the oldest?
Hanild: Yes he is and no, I'm the youngest but my brothers weren't around when Daddy became King again and I talked him into letting me be heir. One of my brothers is back now but I'm still next in line because Daddy promised. *smiles brightly* But all that's really important is that Gram will be King and you'll probably never meet Daddy anyway.
Wulf: If he's the King, I'd probably better. Unless... *puts two and two together* ...he wouldn't like me either, huh?
Hanild: *shakes her head* No, he wouldn't. At all. *sighs* Hopefully he won't know about you for a long time. Oh. And it would probably be best to avoid my brother, too.
Wulf: I thought you said your brother... Oh. *glances about* He was here, eh?
Hanild: We all were. I'm not making this sound very appealing, am I?
Wulf: No, it sounds fine actually. I'm intrigued. I mean, it's not like I've done anything, so the worst they could do is glare. Does it rain there?
Hanild: Actually...*hesitates*...not too much. It's summer now, so we'll get the odd shower, but it's mostly sunny and warm and the grass is nice and green. Perfect for riding. *tilts her head to look at him* You'll have to pick out a horse when we get there.
Wulf: I can ride? *considers that* I suppose I do. I know what it feels like, anyway. You'll let me come with you, then?
Hanild: Yes, if you want to. It's up to you, really, but...I'd like it if you did.
Wulf: I'd like to. That's what I keep saying. Er. Please?
Hanild: Ok. *nods authoritatively* You'll come with us. *gestures to the toys strewn about the floor* I just have to get these together and then we can go. If you're ready to leave, that is.
Wulf: Let me help. *absently ties the blanket into a makeshift knapsack and starts picking up* He certainly has a lot of these...why was he here?
Hanild: He has more waiting for him at home. It's his birthday... *glances over at Wulf briefly* I had to go somewhere and I couldn't take him with me. I knew he'd be safe here.
Wulf: And he was. With Jade. *lightly* And me.
Hanild: He couldn't have been safer. *bites her bottom lip* He, uh, knows you, too, and will probably want to spend time with you. I hope that's ok.
Wulf: Oh? I'd like that. *brightens* I'd really like that. Ah... I have to fill out some paperwork first, though... Before we go.
Hanild: Good. *nods* Jade will have that and she has to take us back, well Gram and I anyway, so you can do that when we see her. *looks around* I think that's it.
Wulf: It's all I could find. *rising, shouldering the "bag"* Which way, how do we find her?
Hanild: Oh, her office is this way. *gestures for him to follow her* She's not hard to find. In fact, you can just call her and she'll find you.
Wulf: Iiii...suppose that makes sense. Considering what she is. She IS Death, isn't she? *hushes, a little nervous*
Hanild: No, she's not. Namo's actually in charge here, but Jade seems to do most of the work. *adds quickly* I'm sure he's just very busy doing other things, though.
Wulf: She's the one with the paperwork, she's the one who took away... *falters* Something.
Hanild: She's very powerful, yes, but she wouldn't do something that she didn't think was helpful in the long run.
Wulf: Do you think this is helpful? Me not remembering anything. *quiet for a moment* Is there a reason why I can't remember anything? I thought it was just normal, for being dead...
Hanild: It's not. Things can get fuzzy after a long time, but I remember everything. *shrugs* I'm not sure if it was your idea or hers and I don't know if it's helpful or not. I guess we'll find out , won't we?
Wulf: Maybe I shouldn't know. *chews his lip thoughtfully as they approach Jade's desk* But...maybe you can find out, and tell me later if I need to know?
Hanild: Tell you what? What you've forgotten? *frowns* You'll find out eventually, whether you want to or not.
Wulf: She did say something like that, but I don't know if it was before or after. Weird, isn't it? It could have been a dream, I guess...I was dreaming, waiting for you...I may have been dreaming of you, come to think of it.
Hanild: Dreams don't mean much. Should be just around this corner...
