Summertime...

So the summer is nearly over -- only 2 1/2 weeks until my trip to Seattle (woot!). & it seems like it all happened so fast. I did make it down the Cape a couple times & took an assload of pictures - over 100 were even worth printing 'n sticking in the album. At least that way I can remember the fleeting days that are summer.

I even made it to the beach - ye olde Horseneck. It was interesting to go there since I don't think I've been there since I was a kid. & I remember being there almost vividly before. I remember I had this pail & shovel from McDonald's that I was playing with. My mother thought that it would be a good idea to try to teach me to swim in the ocean (in the strongest current possible apparently). I remember her telling me that we were not going back to the safety of the blanket on the beach until I learned to swim. Unfortunately, I didn't learn to swim, but instead my mouth & lungs were filled with the burning sting of the salty ocean. I thought I was going to die. Later that afternoon when we were getting ready to leave, mom said I had to wash my pail & bucket or else she was going to throw them away. What was I - stupid?! No way in hell was I going near that water - I was too terrified it would suck me into it like a vortex & my lungs would once again be filled with the burn. Thus, McDonald's pail & shovel ended up in the metal barrel at Horseneck. Ahh... the strange random memories we have from childhood.

But anyways - the beach was a far better experience, though I still didn't "take a dip" in the salty vortex.
