At least a lot of the stuff he did has come back to bite him in the ass in the modern day. Sort of karma.

There are fights up along the Scottish boarder, but they're holding them off there. Ditto in Ireland (I knew there was something I was forgetting; I'll put that in the next chapter). Russia's pulled out of Finland now, for about the same reasons as he pulled out of America; to reconcentrate forces. Finland's closed the border so he's not getting back in so easily either. China's preventing invasion at the border, but not actively invading NK or anything.
