Round 7 [Audio/Open Commentlog]

Oct 05, 2011 18:26

[During his recovery time Zachariah wasn't being completely useless. Since he told Kumatz he would at least attempt to make something she could defend herself with, he thought why he should just stop there. There was nothing here that he could really fix using his conventional tools so if he wanted to do something he needed to learn some new tricks ( Read more... )

...If you don't plan on making weapons, what do you plan on making?

[Dastan is intrigued.]

[Whoa what the hell is this guy speaking? Thank you magic text.]

Everything else. Anything people want or need. I'm just not looking to help people kill each other here.

[A shrug, though Riah can't see it.]

We all have our scruples.

If not weapons, what about arm guards?

Now that I'd be happy to do, well, as long as I got the steel for it.

[Taking lives he's not so hot about, but saving lives? He's all for that.]

[Dastan grins.]

Glad to hear it, now the only question is, where do we find steel? There are extra weapons in the armory, of course, but I am not sure how easy it will be to re-form them.

[Dastan has steel, yes, but he isn't willing to part with any of his swords. Too bad they're all about to leave him for good in his up-coming escape attempt of DOOM.]

Not really sure. Don't know if I want to take what's in the armory. People might want to use that.

[Though if he got desperate he might start stealing things out of there.]

Guess I could just try melting them down and reforging them.

Well, whatever is here is probably all we've got. If we need weapons to defend ourselves one day, I think a great many people would be upset that all they now had were arm guards.

[There is humor in his tone, a light chuckle at the end of his words.]

Melting a few shouldn't hurt, though. And it will give you a chance to learn.

Think I'll hold off on that a bit longer. Maybe the staff know where I can get my hands on some. If they're feeling chatty anyway.

Hey, if you find any who are chatty, send them my way. I'd love to learn all I can about this place.

Think you'll probably get better answers from the people they keep here than from the staff.

Yes, I was thinking that myself, actually.

[If his escape plan worked, however, then he and Tus wouldn't need to worry about this for long.]

If you find anything I wouldn't mind hearing it. Wouldn't mind it if you found some steel either. Either way I'd pay you back.

[Pay him? Dastan's eyebrows rise. He wasn't really interested in that form of payment, but...]

How about a payment of added information? An even trade, I'd say, and we'd both be well kept informed.

Alright, so you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours? I can work with that.

[A chuckle.]

I like to think of it more as a friendship of sorts. Keep giving and eventually everything will pan out. Much better than withholding information because you feel you haven't gained enough in return.

[Zachariah was starting to like this guy. He reminded him of a younger Priest...who spoke some weird ass language.]

I can work with that too. Can't say I don't disagree with you either.
