Back on June 17th, I took an exam to qualify for an entry-level position as a 911 dispatcher. About 150 other people were taking the test with me. It was one of the most difficult tests I had ever taken, and I was sure that I had done poorly. I got a letter in the mail a week later. My score was the eighth highest.
I didn't hear from them for months. I found out that they had openings at the time of the test, but they filled those openings with lateral transfers. Now, having more openings, they've started interviewing those candidates who passed the test back in June. I got called into an interview on Monday (November 20th). It was the most stressful interview I've ever had, and again, I thought I faired poorly. But I got the call on Tuesday, and I've been submitted to the next step in the process: background check. The possiblity is starting to look very real, and I'm excited. Wish me luck.

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving!
