My sister left this fun little one-page fanfic as a surprise in my Tron-fic writing spiral on Friday. I didn't find it until I went to write some more today at my lunch hour, and when I did, I couldn't help but laugh out loud right in the middle of the break room. The humor might not strike others as quite that funny, but between me and her, it's just the kind of humor we share in our conversations when we're fangirling over things. Poor Tron, he always ends up being the butt of everyone's jokes. XD
Title: Street Corner
Rating: K
Characters: Tron
Genre: Humor
Summary: Tron tends to get a little grumpy when he gets bored. The new arrivals to the Grid don't make it much easier on him. C'est la vie.
It had been relatively quiet on the Grid as of late, and it put Tron on edge. Now, as he patrolled the streets, he eyed everyone who walked by. It was well-known by all the Programs that when times got like this, he could be rather unapproachable. Tron stopped at a corner for a moment, asking a few passerbys if they had heard any news going around, but was just greeted with the same old story of everything being "quiet, as usual."
As he stood there, looking through the data pad in his hand, a group of Programs watched him from a few feet away.
"Hey!" Tron didn't notice.
"Hey, fella!" Tron gave a sideways glance. "How much you charging?!"
The small group burst into laughter and his confused look didn't help. His sudden realization that he was on a street corner, under a lamppost, did not make his mood much better. Chasing the group down and ping-ponging his identity disk harmlessly off their heads did.
The internet Programs Sam had recently added to the Grid were quite unpleasant, and Tron made it his personal goal to give them Hell when everything was fairly quiet. He had to admit. Watching a group of the fellows scatter like Gridbugs when he pulled out his identity disk was strangely pleasing.
Almost sinfully so.
