I'm not entirely sure why I'm writing in this, as I'm pretty tired and have to get up early for work tomorrow morning. But. Eh.
As anyone who reads my bootiful husband John's journal knows, my car had a little tummy ache last week. Basically, I was following my sister's boyfriend (Dan) down to East Haven/Stamford to go to a Sister Hazel concert. I was totally psyched because I've been listening to Sister Hazel for about ten years now and have never gotten the chance to see them live. Turns out...this wasn't my day. When we got on the highway, it seemed like my car was having trouble getting up to speed. Then, all of a sudden, it sounded like something popped and my car started making this really loud knocking noise. So, I pulled over on the nearest exit....finally got to use my crazy Cingular roadside assistance service. When Dan heard the noise it was making, he said it sounded like I blew the head gasket...which made me groan, loudly, since that's what happened to my Accord before...basically I knew that fixing that would be more than the car was worth. So, when I went home that night, I was greatly anticipating having to buy a new car.
Alas. After having borrowed my mom's car seemingly for the weekend (and getting her an oil change she needed), the mechanic called me back -- roughly 24 hours after they'd towed the car. He sounded like he had bad news, but ended up telling me, "It wasn't what we thought. Just a spark plug." So, the total came to $113, including the tow. It wasn't even enough to have to put on a credit card. So, to make a long story short (too late!), nothing has changed and I'm still driving the wagonmobile.
In slightly less pointless news, I have a new friend. On the same day that all this was going on with my car, I came home (in my mom's car) to find, once AGAIN*, someone parked in my parking spot. Not only that, but it was a moving van, and it was kind of...in the middle of my spot and my neighbor's spot so neither of us could get in. But. Have to be neighborly, so I politely went over to say hi while making it very clear that if they ever blocked my spot again I would light their car on fire. As it turns out, It's just one guy my age living there, who happened to have two relative-types helping him move. And as it further turns out, he's pretty fun to hang out with. So, we've hung out a couple times. And before anyone raises the sketchiness question -- it's a non-issue. Leave it at that :-b So, now I have someone to goof off with once in a while, which is good, because I was starting to get pretty lonely being by myself all the time :(
I'm pretty sure that I don't have much else going on than that...other than, I'M GOING TO VIRGIN-LAND TO SEE JOHN IN LESS THAN A WEEK!! Yup. That's right. We'll be spending about nine days together, partly to celebrate our first anniversary on the 7th. Yes...we survived our first year of marriage, even with being separated and all. :-)
Oh, also -- I'm having a 5th of July barbecue this Thursday. So, if anyone wants to come, get in touch with me so I can give you the directions (if you don't already have them). Bye!
