Today I Brought Out My Winter Boots

Oct 10, 2009 14:58

As the name of this entry explicitely states, today I brought out my winter boots. But, in my defense, I'm only wearing one pair of socks!

There was about one or two inches of snow (in some places there wasn't any snow, due to things being in the way... like moving cars), but it was the weirdest thing. Some of the birch trees are still in the yellow-green stage of changing color. It ended up looking a little like a freak snow storm. Sadly, it seems like winter might be here to stay.

Which means that I'm getting, like clockwork, my first winter cold. I don't feel to bad, but my sore throat is annoying enough that I don't really want to talk and feel like eating nothng but popsicles until it passes. :) Of course the bastard had to show up Thanksgiving weekend!

Work at the library goes slow... VERY slow... sometimes I look around and wonder if what I'm doing even makes a difference. And just right now, at this very moment, I want to take a heavy disinfectant to everything, as someone was tying on my computer with a wart on their finger... luckily I brought my Purell with me, so I have that handy! But the other thing is, I wonder how many books actually get signed out of here, when I had a grade 6 student who needed help reading the word "warrior"... twice. It's a sad, sad cycle.

Otherwise, nothing much to report. Went to Thompson to get stuff recently, and found out the Wal-Mart there closes at 6 pm. I want more warm sweaters, as somehow some of mine have disappeared, and am planning a large shopping spree for sweaters and warm long-sleeved shirts next time I go down! <3

And Akira's new baby computer finally arrived. The mouse is awkward, but the graphics are just stunning. The next time I need a new computer, I think I'm going to splurge on a Mac too. (Sean Monster, Akira said you'd laugh at that. I hope you did.)

Otherwise, trying a new recipe in the slow cooker today. It smells awesome, even with my stuffy nose and sore throat. I can't wait to get home and cook dinner. Yeah, I know. Since WHEN would I ever actually look forward to COOKING dinner? But I do. And I am. I feel like it's part of my weight around the house to cook dinner when Akira's working, and thus expect him to cook me dinner on the nights when he's off, of course. ;) I feel like I've been becoming most economic recently. Tonight dinner is chicken breast roasted with a sauce of honey, butter, curry powder and mustard, and then a side serveing of home made mac and cheese with boiled broccoli heads. Yum yum!
