I realize that basically since the show went on hiatus back in February(?), I have done nothing but post messages that say that I'm alive and that I have plans to start doing rewatches again soon....

... listen, I don't need to tell you that it's been a weird year.

With the show finishing off in October, I do really want to finish up my S14 ( Read more... )

life, in the works

totally understandable, it's just so easy to start moving on, and this whole Corona mess hasn't made it easier.
I'm currently slowly moving fully into "The old guard" fandom, and it's hard to get back invested in spn, when TOG is right there...

I got into BTS about a year ago... and well, it's a whole different kettle of fish, because it's music and real people - but they have 7 years of content in which they've practically been filmed every day of their lives, so there is a LOT to distract me from keeping up with my SPN projects... especially when my brain was already set into "time to let this go" mode.

Lucky you, we've only got two hours of footage. But it's just so damn awesome... It's just fun to be part of a fandom and to for once not have to fight all the time (after the racism in tw fandom, it's just nice to be in a fandom that doesn't treat it's characters of color like crap)
And having the main fandom pairing be canon doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, tw was the worst for that... I think because even the writers didn't know how to write their lead.

From what I've seen of TOG it looks awesome!

Thing is, Scott was by far the most interesting character in Teen Wolf, but the writers were so focused on Stiles, aka the least interesting char on the show, because fandom hooked onto him as their self insert. And the more the show leaned into that, the worse it got.

It's like Star Wars, Finn was the most interesting character, but fandom hooked onto Kyle Ren instead, and the movie joined along in it with them, ruining what coudl have been a great new trilogy, all because they could only relate to a white guy.

With TOG,there isn't a weak link in the entire cast. Nile is my favorite, as is Andy, and Nicky, and Joe and even Booker, and it's just...

For me, if I can remember all the characters' names immediately after watching the source material, that means it's something meaningful. And the fact that the movie gets better the more you rewatch it, is even more awesome.

Ugh, yeah, don't even get me started on Star Wars. I can't believe they got John Boyega and then just wasted him like that... seriously, John Boyega is one of the most captivating actors I've ever seen - and Finn was SO INTERESTING, as a character origin story.

Anyway, yeah, I agree with you. I liked Stiles, but as a sidekick, not as the main - Scott was more compelling as a main if they had known how to write him. That show had a fantastic premise (including character types/backgrounds/personalities) that it didn't know what to do with, and then suffered further by not being able to keep their actors.

Anyway! I'm glad TOG is treating you better.
