[Day 14] Garden (Free Shift)

Feb 19, 2010 06:24

There were still a few splotches of pain spotting here and there on the young Maou's face. Yuuri didn't even notice it, or wouldn't care even if he did, as his mind seemed to be completely absorbed within his thoughts. Sae... she was here and safe, and not only that, but she seemed to remember everything that had happened right up until her ( Read more... )

Gellert wandered out into the garden and he still appeared as chipper as he had when he'd arrived. He glanced around at the other prisoners, his eyes settling on 11-12 for a moment and he did frown slightly. Something seemed familiar about him... but then his eyes kept roving in curiosity about his other fellow inmates.

[Free - and Gellert still needs a tag, please!]

No sooner had Yuuri began to run did he find himself almost crashing into another prisoner. Skirting around on one leg, the young Maou barely managed to stop from falling over as he smiled apologetically.

"Sorry about that," He muttered sheepishly before peering at the other teen in worry, "I didn't hurt you or anything, did I?"

Gellert put out his hands to steady Yuuri. "No, no, I'm fine. You look distressed... Are you all right?"

There was definitely a sigh of relief to see that he hadn't accidentally hurt the other boy. "Thank goodness," Yuuri said while releasing the breath he'd been holding. He didn't mind the hold at all, and smiled thankfully in response.

"Mmm, yeah," He muttered before stepping back and glancing over to where they'd buried Wolfram the night before, "We buried a friend here last night... so I was just checking to make sure that he's still okay."

"Oh," Gellert looked over to where Yuuri had glanced. "So this is not a garden... It is a graveyard?" He looked around as if expecting to see some headstones or mounds of freshly dug earth, at least.

His arms dropped to his sides again then he gave Yuuri a questioning look. The boy looked very young to be in a prison but he knew that looks could be very deceptive.

His expression seemed to downturn and soften subtly at the question. Perhaps it had been a little selfish of him to turn a garden into that sort of thing, but Yuuri wouldn't have allowed for anything less when it came to Wolfram's burial. It was the least he could do.

"No... it's a garden," Yuuri muttered before shaking his head to rid himself of the thoughts. Smiling weakly, the young Maou muttered, "But I couldn't think of anywhere else to bury him."

Gellert's brow creased in a slight frown. "I'm sorry but... how did he die?" He would have though such an organisation as a prison would have taken care of things like that in ways that less directly affected the prisoners themselves.

The thought of how Wolfram died caused his chest to clench painfully in thought. He hadn't been there for either times the blonde's life, and by the time that he had found Wolfram, he'd been strung up in those cages with the birds.

"I-I don't know," He muttered quietly while he glanced away, "Each time he disappeared sometime during the night so I was never there when it happened."

"This prison is indeed a mystery," Gellert mused then looked at Yuuri with some sympathy.

"I apologie about being so direct. What is your name? I am Gellert."

A mystery was something that Yuuri would never use to describe this place, and he couldn't even bring himself to agree. "No.. what they do here is no better than what Soushu did. It's a darkness that can not be allowed to continue."

He pulled himself from his thoughts and smiled weakly, "You don't have to apologise. I should be the one who does." His expression seemed to strengthen at the introduction. "Gellert?" It's nice to meet you. I'm Yuuri, Shibuya Yuuri."

"You are Asian, are you not? Japanese...?" Gellert questioned, regarding Yuuri with mild interest.

Then he added, "Who is Soushu?"

"Mmmhm! I'm from Tokyo." Yuuri said with a cheerful grin. It was always nice to find otheres who were from Earth as well. "Where are you from?"

His expression faltered somewhat at the question, but Yuuri shook it away as he explained, "Soushu's a manifestation of everyone's negative emotions... It doesn't really have a physical form and it inbades the hearts of others to get them to do its bidding."

"Originally? I am from Bavaria in Germany but I have travelled around much since then."

He paused to take in Yuuri's next words. "Is this Soushu here?"

"Germany? Ooowaah it must be great to be able to travel around so much." Yuuri said with a grin.

Shaking his head, the young Maou smiled as he offered, "No, my friends and I manage to destroy it just before I found myself here."

"Yes, I do like to see different places but as yet I have only seen some of Europe. I would like to see Asia some day. Japan is a very magical place, I'm sure."

Gellert gave Yuuri another interested look. "So this is your punishment? You were sent here for the destruction of Soushu?"

"Mmhm! There are definitely a lot of great places to see in Japan!" Yuuri cheerfully said before his eyes widened at the other's insinuation. Was defeating Soushu the reason he found himself here? How could that even be possible? No, that wasn't right. Cloud was a hero and he was locked up here as well, so Yuuri didn't think that they'd lock up those who fought for good. Besides that, both Sai and Armand had never done anything either.

The thought caused the young Maou to sigh slightly in relief before he muttered, "I don't think so since the guards said my crime was for something I've never done." Yuuri admitted as he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
