[Day 14] Cafeteria (Breakfast Shift)

Jan 27, 2010 08:45

Cloud hadn't been in his cell when he'd looked. The findings had left him with a feeling of unease as Yuuri eventually been dragged away from his cell block and towards the cafeteria. He'd lost sight of everyone else after they'd quickly buried Wolfram, and try as he might not to worry, Yuuri couldn't help but feel the feeling of fear tightening ( Read more... )

[HAI BB <3]

For once, breakfast didn't look all that bad. The pancakes didn't smell like much, and the hash browns were probably best left alone, but that was a lot better than some of what she had been forced to eat in this place. That wasn't the important thing to worry about, anyway. The important thing was finding the people she knew and letting them know she was all right. If she really had been out for over a day, maybe more, then they would be worried about her. Yuuri especially.

I really hope he's still here, she thought with worry. People disappeared so quickly here sometimes.

She got into the cafeteria quickly, and thankfully, the smaller boy was easy to spot amongst the more intimidating prisoners. She couldn't help but smile with relief as she hurried over to him. "G-good morning, Shibu- YA!" As she had picked up speed, Sae hadn't really been watching where she was going. Her foot caught the edge of a chair leg just as she was approaching Yuuri's table, sending her flying forward onto the ground face first.

"How, erk, how are you?" she said in a muffled voice against the floor, somehow having managed to save her food from falling off its tray.

[Haaaaaaaaieeeee~~~~ Sae makes me laugh <3]

The sense of panic began to increase when he couldn't catch sight of Cloud, Armand, or any of the others. Maybe he'd just been too quick here to the cafeteria and beaten everyone else? It was a hope that Yuuri clung to almost obsessively as his fears attempted to grab hold.

Yuuri was so wrapped up in his own worries that he didn't recognise the voice at first. Spinning himself around, his eyes were wide as he caught sight of a familiar face moments before Sae went face-down towards the ground.

"Sae!" He called out in alarm as he instantly ran over to her side. All of the emotions that he'd been feeling within were threatening to burst out, and seeing his friend only seemed to highlight that further. He'd thought... thought that...

Reaching out to help her up, Yuuri couldn't stop the rush of questions as he asked, "Where have you been? Are you alright? They didn't hurt you, did they?"

"I-I'm all right! I'm fine! Really!" she insisted as she let Yuuri help her up, face red partially from having hit the floor and partially from embarrassment. What a way to welcome herself back. She wouldn't blame Yuuri if he didn't believe that she was all right.

She set her tray on the table and slipped meekly into a chair across from Yuuri and explained, "I don't know where I've been, actually. The days started to blur together all of a sudden, like I wasn't there half the time, and then I felt like I'd fallen asleep for a while. I just woke up again this morning." She bit her lip, almost afraid to ask the next question. "How . . . How long was I out for?"

He settled himself down at the table as his friend sat. There was a definite sigh of relief to hear that she was fine. She'd disappeared so long ago that he'd been afraid that Sae had ended up just like all the others. He had promised to protect everyone, and he didn't want to let anyone else down - not again.

"How long?" His eyes seemed to flash with pain as Yuuri glanced down to the tabletop. She'd disappeared just after they'd found Wolfram the first time. How long had it been since then? Too much had happened.

Forcing the smile back on his face, Yuuri peered back up to regard Sae as he murmured, "Five... maybe six days."

"Five? Maybe six?!" Sae was aghast at that number. She had thought one, maybe two days at the most. But she had been gone for almost a week now?! She couldn't imagine how worried Yuuri and the others must have been. Heck, forget the people in Hell's Gate - what were the members of the Magic Club thinking at this point?! Were they still looking for her? Or had they given up and assumed that she had been lost to the teleportation spell? God, what about Saki? The Magic Club wouldn't be able to tell her why Sae was missing. She had already been abducted by aliens, for goodness' sake! And she had been missing for longer now than she had then! What did she think had become of her little sister?

Already the tears were starting to flow fully and freely, even though Sae tried to pretend that they weren't. "I-I'm so sorry for making you worry, Shibuya!" she exclaimed, clenching her hands on the table. "I really wish there was some way I could have let you known I was all right! I-I-I can't believe it was that long! Please accept my apologies!" she continued, dropping her head down instinctively.

He could see the panic immediately flashing over her features, and it instantly caused him to feel bad for causing it. "No no, you don't have to apologise at all!" Yuuri blurted out as he waved his arms as a gesture to prove his point. Aaa the last thing he wanted to do was to upset Sae, but it looked like that was just what he was doing.

Reaching over the table, Yuuri lay his hand on top of her head. "I'm just glad to see that you're alright," He finally said with a smile on his lips.

Sae stopped when she felt the hand on her head, and her face flushed. Funny that she had just thought of Saki; this was exactly the sort of thing she might do to calm her little sister down. The gesture was welcomed, and Sae swiped at the tears on her face. "I'm glad you're all right too," she said, somehow managing to make herself return Yuuri's smile a little bit. "I was worried that you might have disappeared. So I'm glad you haven't."

There was at least some level of comfort found in seeing Sae calm down. It was a little easier getting pushing down his fears when he had someone else to focus on as well.

"Aa," He sounded with a soft smile on his face before he pulled back to sit in his chair again, "I don't plan on going anywhere without taking everyone else with me." That was what he had promised himself, and he wouldn't leave without Sae, Armand, and everyone else.

"I'll help you!" Sae declared suddenly in response to Yuuri's statement. She blushed again when she realized her own suddenness, but didn't shy away from continuing, at least. "I know I can't do much with my magic being so hard to use without a real wand, and that I'm a klutz who gets in the way, and that I get scared or saddened easily . . . But I know that I can still help you in some way!"

She wiped away more of her tears and bit her lip, forcing herself not to keep crying. "I want you and all your friends to get out. If I got out and you all were still stuck here, I-I don't know if I could live with myself. I would want to have my friends from the Magic Club find this place again with me just so that we could help everyone else escape."

The honest enthusiasm Sae was displaying left Yuuri smiling happily. So much had happened over the short little while, and he found it rather relieving to know that things could still look positive. He'd never thought that he'd begin to lose any level of hope, but this prison seemed to grate on even his optimism.

"Thank you, Sae," Yuuri said earnestly. Shaking his head, his smile remained, "Just being willing to help is more than enough."
