As Eric awoke from a rather heavy sleep, he lazily wondered why it was so bright. Even with his eyelids closed, he could easily see light trying to force its way into his eyes. It was then that they popped open in sudden fear and confusion.

The sunlight seemed to be everywhere - leaking into the room, pooling on the floor, splashing across his body. And yet, he didn't feel any pain. Eric had been burned by the sun before and it hadn't been anything like this. With the sun out, he should have been completely lethargic and nearly unable to move. While he did feel tired and a bit fatigued, he easily jumped from the bed and hunched into the corner of the room, trying to get as far away from the light as possible.

Thoughts reeled through his mind as he tried to get his bearings. He'd just been speaking with that disgusting witch and his features darkened at the thought. Yes, this had to be her fault. She had been a fool to think that he would stoop so low in fear of being 'extorted' when he could have just as easily destroyed her pathetic group of magic users, but Chow had found it prudent to attack openly. He would have to punish him later, once he found his way home.

In the meantime, he had to figure out what to do about the sunlight. Reaching his hand out gingerly, he tested it again. His skin still didn't burst into flames, though it felt more than a bit warm for his tastes. Looking up, his eyes finally focused on the bars of his cell and with an angry grimace, he rose to his feet and strode over them, refusing to look afraid of the light if it wasn't going to hurt him. His eyes still flinched as it hit his eyes, but they soon adjusted and he did his best to ignore his instincts to flee from the feel of its rays on his pale and cold skin.

Wrapping his hands around the bars, Eric pulled on them in an attempt to free himself, but found his strength unable to bend them. That was also strange, and he felt the beginnings of anger stirring within him. Was he even still a vampire? Running his tongue over his teeth, he tried to extend his fangs, and was instantly successful. Well, that was one question answered, but only one of far too many.

Looking up as a man's voice came booming over the intercom, Eric's angry visage only worsened as his predicament seemed to make less and less sense. He knew how to handle authority, and though he highly disliked the idea of playing nice under human authority, he wasn't exactly sure if the voice belonged to a human. Better to bide his time and play along before he made any strategic movements.

As the doors clicked open and the other prisoners began filing off for the showers, Eric simply followed along, his sharp eyes already beginning to watch and learn.
