Day 68 | Video Call | Post-Sacrifice
[The video feed is a little blurry, but the phone is sitting haphazardly on a table in the dimly lit living room. Claire sits down by the window, pulling the curtain back. A red patch rests on the crook of her neck, slightly obscured by her hair. She visibly winces before speaking.]
You guys know how that monster works by now. One person's death is never enough for him. It never is... so why would you even believe him?
[She touches her neck, closing her eyes.]
More people will die. He'll laugh at us, dangle this in front of our face. How we turned on each other. We're not monsters. We're not... animals! We shouldn't just listen to a monster. He was going to kill five people if we didn't kill one! It doesn't matter how many die, not to him.
I can't do this any more. I just can't.
[She gets up, leaving the view of the camera. The front door can be heard opening and slamming behind her.
It'll be a few hours later before the door opens again and the video feed is cut off.]
