[Call to Everyone; Video - Day 49 (evening)]

Mar 20, 2011 21:52

[Oh hey it's another new person. This one is sitting in the kitchen of a house, probably staring at the fruit basket - routine stuff. Mahdi has mess dark hair in a ponytail, lavender eyes and is wearing brown overalls over a collared shirt. He is clearly nervous but attempting to seem upbeat.]

Okay.

Okay.

Okay.Um. Hi! I'm Mahdi, and I'm new ( Read more... )

[Oh, boy. So many questions, and not a single one important.]

I've got a question: that's all you're worried about? A credit card and some music?

Well, I'm not going to survive here if I can't eat, right? Am I just supposed to hunt for food? This is a pretty weird set up, I mean I've heard about forcing people into taking loans but this is extreme even for that.

...true. It's just that most people are less concerned with making a life for themselves here and more concerned with getting out. No, you don't have to hunt, and no, I'm pretty certain that this isn't some loan racket.

I don't see the harm in living here for a little while and seeing what this place is all about first, getting to know people here. But then I got hungry and I realized I didn't have any money...

Well, I do. Who wants to live in a washed-out town that never lets you leave? This place completely flies in the face of science!

...This town is pretty... moist right now. But I expect that'll clear up in the summer probably? [There's a bright side to everything!]

As for science, well. I'm not too great at it. Plus science kinda changes wherever you are, right?

[Sorry, Mahdi, there's nothing but moody Skyes in her forecast.]

Who knows? I don't plan on sticking around long enough to find out.

Science is a constant. It doesn't just change - and before you say anything, I'm not counting this place.

Um, well, from what I've seen, what's possible can pretty much change depending on where you are. Different realities have different rules. Just like you wouldn't run out in the middle of a baseball field with a badminton racket like 'this doesn't make sense!', you can't go into another reality being mad at it for not being your reality.

[pause]

I dunno if that really made sense, but, in any case, I hope you can find your way out! Have you been away from home very long?

But here is no "my" reality, there's just one reality. I'll admit, the circumstances surrounding this place are strange, but that's all it is. Strange. Abnormal. But not....supernatural. [She says the last word as if she'd just touched something gross.]

Too long. It's been nearly a month now

I gotta admit this kind of thing is really out of my league, but isn't something 'supernatural' just so uh... super-scientific it's just beyond your understanding at the time?

And I'm gonna have to disagree with you about there only being one reality. Sorry!

isoluminol March 23 2011, 06:48:54 UTC
That couldn't be further from the truth! The rules of science are like...like the rules of nature! Supernatural things are the exact opposite - they're unnatural.

Then I'm going to have to disagree with you until you can show me some definitive proof.

moralperil March 23 2011, 07:02:51 UTC
Definite proof is a little difficult to come by. But um, how have you tried to leave? It shouldn't be scientifically possible for you to walk around and end up in the same place, right?

If anything, doesn't it make more sense to say that this world is different from the one you were from, and that's proof at least two exist?

I have. And I know. [And therin lies one of the biggest problems; she'd never been able to fully explain how everyone ended up back where they started. So she's not even going to try, hoping he'll let that one slide for now. Not likely, but it's worth a try, right?]

But doing that would be like throwing all reason out the window! I'm not about to buy into such a ridiculous theory until someone proves it to me beyond all reasonable doubt.

It's only unreasonable if you don't believe other worlds can exist, though.

If you changed that belief it wouldn't be so [...trying to think of the word...] unbelievable.

I've never been one for blind faith.

[A heavy sigh. She's not ready to give in yet, but...] Let's say that, hypothetically speaking, there just may be the possibility that they exist. What's your world called, then?

My world? Mostly I call it home.

I've also been to Earth, and the Below Realm, and a strange place called Nautilus, City of Changes.
