Poor Stephine. He understood what it was like not to have company. Until M'gann came into his life (and his house) it had been very lonely. And he was glad for her to be there, though they were not often in each other's company. It was simply enough to have her there. It was soothing. He hoped that he could do the same for the young woman, and her offer of food.

Even if he had no idea what yogurt was.

He knocked politely on the door, and waited, a package in his hands. He hadn't been able to find everything he wanted, but hopefully...matcha and green tea pound cakes would go with yogurt. Right?

Stephanie opened the door pretty enthusiastically. He would be her first visitor, now, with Cissie gone and her offer for hanging out out there-- so she was kind of excited to have the boredom stemmed. Plus an excuse to get rid of the extra yoghurt. And she could possibly get some information out of her visitors, anyway...

"Hey!" She greeted cheerfully, stepping out of the way so that he could come in.

It was nice to visit, and he was glad to come over-even if it was due to the food, being some sort of excuse. A little odd, but hey. If it meant he was getting to know her better, and getting some excerise, he wasn't about to say no.

"Hello!" He beamed at her, giving a small bow of greeting, before walking in. He was already untying his sandals with one hand.
"I'm Hanataro Yamada, pleased to meet you!"

Food was definitely a good enough reason to start getting to know someone, in Stephanie's opinion.

"Nice to meet you," she said cheerfully to Hanataro, "It's Stephanie, if you didn't catch it before. Stephanie Brown." She moved to take the package out of his hands, to help him out. "Let me put that up?"

"It's a pleasure-oh, sure!" He gave it to her, beaming. "I had some leftover green tea pound cakes, and some matcha. I'm not sure what else you put into yogurt...so, it's a little thank you gift. For letting me come over."

"Hey, that's sweet, though you didn't have to," Steph said, brightly. "Thank you for that." She moved to set the boxes down, out of the way for now, and nodded. "Don't know how they'd go with yoghurt. We could always experiment, if you want?"

"I thought it'd be the polite thing to do." He beamed at her, and once his shoes were off, stood there, glancing around. It didn't look at all different from his place, really. Well...maybe a little cleaner. But it wasn't his place to say anything.

"And I'd be welcome to try it! This really is an experiment. I can't even guess what it'll taste like."

"Fair," Steph said, friendly enough. She gestured into the house. "Feel free to make yourself at home? I mean, I don't have a lot, but whatever." Dining room would probably be the best place to hang out though-- especially if there was going to be eating.

"I guess it wasn't really a staple food where you come from?" she joked. "You'll love it. It's basically the easiest food ever."

"I don't we have too much of anything, especially after the flood." He admitted, smiling. He felt a little awkward, feeling impolite, but he started to move forward, glancing around.

"No, we don't have a lot of yogurt where I'm from. Or much dairy." He chuckled, shaking his head. "There's a lot of rice. But there's a lot of ways to prepare it, so it's okay." He rubbed the back of his neck. He was chattering a lot, wasn't he? Like a little monkey. "Sorry, I've been told I'm boring! Hahaa. What's your home like?"

"Fair again," Steph reiterated. "I got here just after that, but my former housemate told me a bit about it." Natural disasters were also not her idea of a great time, however.

"Hey, I don't think it's that boring," Steph said, brightly. Maybe not the most interesting, but she didn't mind. As for her own home... "I don't really know what to say about mine, though. Came from a big city, and I can't really tell if this place is worse or not. I liked it, in a backwards kind of way, though."

"Good timing!" He couldn't help but laugh at that. "It was awful, especially after the snowstorm-everyone was in a panic! It was bad. No invisible housekeepers, no stores open. We were all living lean for awhile."

Lucky Stephine. She didn't have to deal with cranky hungry people, broken windows, or the lighthouse raid. Maybe it was rather exciting to be here, but it was exhausting too.

"As for where I'm from...it's...very different. A different mentality, though it was a large...place, where I was from. I guess you could call it a city. Or a capital."

"Yeah, it sounded pretty bad," Steph grimaced. She'd not heard about a lot other than the flood, but she'd seen and heard some talk about it. "Can't say I'm a fan of sporadic, extreme weather fronts. And certainly not a lack of food, either. At least that's over now, right?"

She nodded as he explained a bit about where he was from. "So, much bigger then? I guess this is pretty different."

He nodded, wincing. Bad things had certainly had happened. It hadn't been a nice time, for various reasons-and he did not want to speak about that with anyone. Hyde had been quiet, that should be enough for now.

"We're fine now. We have food, a bit of fog-we're doing well!

"But my place is a little...different, I guess. Since it houses a lot of people, not to mention the administration, jail...things like that. A city within a city. Everything here is so strange. Are the buildings here like those you have at home?"

Steph noticed the wince, but she didn't mention it-- she didn't figure she should. It was probably just reflecting on something in particular that had happened, right? "I'll take fog over disaster any day," she said, instead.

She nodded to his explanation of where he had come from. It sounded like it was different enough. Not that that surprised her, really. "More or less," she said. "A lot more big buildings, but it's basically the same sort of style."

A private disaster, so to speak.
"Though the fog here can be...pretty horrible, I think." He muttered. She was free to ignore it. He knew he wasn't the most brave of people and really, here, it wasn't supposed to matter. It was irksome though. He didn't want to be screaming any everything that came along.

"Bigger buildings, like the houses? I wonder what they look like." He was curious. Curious as he was over the yogurt. "It must be...interesting as yogurt..."

Steph nodded at that, frowning a little. She wondered for a moment if she should press or not, before she decided for a more gentle prodding (hey, she could be subtle when she wanted to be): "Fog's normally just gross, I find, not so much horrible." Not outright, but an invitation to clarify if he wanted to.

"Bigger like twenty plus stories bigger," she said, but then she laughed out loud a little at his last comment. "Maybe, yeah," she said, and headed for her fridge to get the yoghurt out. "So let's get one of those mysteries solved, shall we?"
