Well now, can't say as I'm exactly surprised that someone was willin' to go through with the whole human sacrifice to appease the angry monster thing. Or that someone was willin' to kill someone else for the 'safety' of everyone else

Finally, someone making sense. It's not going to stop, not now that the bastard knows he can get us to obey him just by threatening us.

I was trained to resist tyrants and protect the innocent, among other things. This situation shows just how far out of hand this place has fallen.

I'm concerned what this might lead to. But I'm also unsure whether I can take actions without orders.

...there's only one person here of higher rank than me in our organization but I'm pretty sure he'd have my head if I got too carried away just yet.

That's what I meant. Of all the captains, there's one here. I'm not in his squad, but he still outranks me.

I will probably have to. But that doesn't mean I can't discuss strategies.

It depends on whether he's no better than a monster, which you simply hunt until you remove it as a threat. He's far more intelligent than that, it requires investigation and counter-measures. As quickly as possible.

Well, investigation is my specialty, if I do say so myself. It better be, it's my job, after all.

Well, then. I heard that some time ago before I arrived there was a rash of kidnappings and killing. It's possible he was the one responsible. I'd say that bears investigating, to find out what he's capable of and what he wants.

...and I mean, truly wants, whether he really believes in his gods or is using that as an excuse.

No, sorry. I was only told about it in passing recently. I've only been here a week or so and it was well before that.

Hmm. I've been here about the same amount of time. I'll look into it. I know there are people here who have been here for quite some time. They might know something.
