monkey business

i started working at the primate center today. my shifts are from 1-10pm...so that kind of sucks, but oh well. it's not hard work or anything. wash...dry...fold...deliver...feed babies. therefore, i'm pretty content. i just wish it wasn't on fridays and saturdays. oh well...during the school year my hours will be cut back. and my supervisor said that if i don't like the hours, she can rearrange my schedule. anyway, she let me hold a little rhesus monkey, and it wouldn't let go of me. teehee...i felt loved. then i got to feed a one day old monkey. it's funny because they forget how to suck because they're not adapted to bottles. i was afraid it was going to poo all over me, but it didn't, and i had a blanket to wrap around it. the only bad thing about today was when i almost passed out because i can't wear surgical masks for a very long time. i get really hot, and i don't get enough oxygen, and i sort of black out. i had to find a bathroom really quickly and sit for a while. i could hardly see anything. i felt better after that though. maybe i should have eaten more before i left. anyway, my primary job is just the laundry, and the perks are helping the nursery technicians with the babies. i like folding laundry though. i'm weird.

but speaking of baby monkeys, i also got to play with baby human primates yesterday at my internship. i still have yet to talk to my supervisor because she's hellov pregnant and always gone when i'm there, but one day i will get my proposal in. hopefully the ICC won't hate me. it's not my fault she's pregnant and busy. i try. anyway, those babies were cute as well. one of them was a hippie baby...well, her mom was a hippie. one toddler looked like a little version of allen iverson, and he got angry when other children tried to steal his toys. there was one precocious three year old who responded with his name to every question. it was cute. i would talk about all the kids i got to play with, but there were too many. all good kids. except the allen iverson one will probably grow up to be a punk and get into lots of fights.

i guess that's it for now. i'm glad the people having the pool party downstairs have finally chosen to turn off their crap music. that makes my day better. i think i'm going to go rent a movie now. romeo and juliet...since i haven't seen it yet, and angel said i should see it.
