a_shadow_there gave me 4/5 of the most important things in life to talk about!
Beulah
Weirdly enough, I initially discovered Beulah while reading the lyrics to Neutral Milk Hotel's song 'Oh Sister' (which features the line 'Oh sister, sweet brown and beulary'). I didn't know what the word meant, so I was lurking the songmeanings.net comments, and someone mentioned Beulah being an Elephant 6 band. They are probably my favourite *pop* band, however, and I've gone through some serious phases with all of their albums. Yum!
Guitar
I don't play guitar, and it's one of the few instruments I've never felt much desire to learn (it is impractical afterall-- everyone plays guitar). Aside from shoegaze, music with an emphasis on guitar tends to turn me off, since most of it revolves around technical skill rather than songwriting. I like guitar better than keyboards, though.
Beard
Such a huge topic, and I cannot figure out where is best to start. I am something of a beard enthusiast-- if you were not aware of this, you've probably NEVER SPOKEN TO ME. It is the one redeeming hipster quality. I once glued trimmings of my own hair to my face; it was extremely stiff.
Dostoyevsky
Fyodor Dostoyevsky is my favourite author (although I feel some guilt for choosing someone whose work has been translated). I started out reading The Brothers Karamazov about... three years ago now, but I never finished it, because I lost my copy. I also managed to lose The Idiot, last year, for something like five months, and so it took me a while to finish.
I do, in fact, have a picture of Dostoyevsky on my wall. I have given him red lips and gorgeous emerald eyeshadow, because I'm a tool.
Dostoyevsky was also a totally sexy beast in his youth. Just saying.
Floral
You know, I cannot stand gardening. It's a shame, because I am rather fond of the results. I tend to wear floral dresses almost exclusively (because there is something so horrendously appealling about looking like an old woman's chesterfield) and you may have noticed that all of my avatars are floral patterns. As is my layout. It's such a lovely expression of femininity and is so so so versatile. I do tend to go in the daintier direction, but then I have plenty of garish hippie's floral patterns saved.
