Man I really REALLY have to start listening to my gut instinct. Not sure what it is but they slap me in the face when I don't listen.
The other night I was driving home from Toronto and I thought for some reason that I should have taken hwy 2 home. Of course I decided hell no cause the hwy 401 is faster... right? Well go figure that I would run into a HUGE transport that ran off the road and traffic that was stopped for MILES. Hmmm... there was an extra hour and a bit added onto my trip. If I had only taken hwy 2 like my gut was telling me.
And.... I have been talking to some people around me about work at the hospital. Specifically about CODE BLUES and what I should be doing *cause I have never been to one or seen one yet*... so my gut told me to research it and find out exactly what I need to do. So.... go figure that last night on shift a ICU patient went into v-tach. I was on another floor but got a call to my phone to go. Heart stopped about right there.. ummm yep. So I go to the room and there is a man lying there who just went into cardiac arrest. One of the nurses from my consolidation was running it and she saw that I was there. She actually got me involved and had me doinng compressions on the dude. He was shocked once and came back when I was told isn't the usual case. Still though .. what an awesome experience but so scary/intimidating at the same time. But like I was saying before.. funny that my gut would tell me to research codes a bit more just before my next shift. Hmmmmm....
Well I am sleepy and going to be for a few hours. Sorry if a lot of this doesn't make sense, but hey I just worked all night.
Whoooo hoooooooo.. my first code!!!
