Howdy! It's been a while since I've had a real update and I can't believe how early in the morning I'm posting this. It's 8:20 am and I don't have work, but I actually have the motivation to write a blog entry. I've been updating my
tumblr a little more recently. I realized that I should blog more (even if no one really reads it), but you know, writing editorials, press releases, blogs and more are most likely what my future career path has in store for me, so I should use blogging as practice. It'll keep my mind active if I write as much as every day or every other day and hopefully my writing skills will develop even more.
My roommate brought up the idea of starting a wordpress which I was going to sign up for initially, but I found
tumblr which is yet another technologically quirky social networking site. It's a little different from the usual wordpress or blogspot because if its ease of blogging, uploading photos and videos. It's also quite different from livejournal. So anyway, the reason why I have a second blog is because I want to write more review-type entries like about movies, restaurants, tv show, etc. You know, the usual stuff you find in a typical blog, and hopefully I'll become the next Perez. Just kidding.
ANYWAY.
A little update. This summer has been really good and definitely LAID BACK. I'm kind of living the good life here (but believe me people, it won't last forever) only working 16 hours/week and having time to do things like go to the gym every day, reading for pleasure and study my butt off for the GRE exam. I finally finished the entire Twilight series and I say that the first book is the best.
Not to mention, I get a lot of time to hang out with friends. I even got to go on a weekend trip to
Lake Chelan, a popular tourist destination in central or "eastern" Washington with a bunch of friends. One of things I had to do/experience was be immersed in a lake since I had always seen photos of people doing it and after going to Chelan, I finally achieved that goal. I love the lake. Something about it is just so different from the ocean which I am so much more used to. You can actually swim a lot better in a lake since the waves don't constantly pull you to shore.
So anyway, we rented a boat and went inner tubing and wake boarding which was FUN. My friend Nina was driving the boat while inner tubing and I swear she drives like a crazy person but that was the most exhilarating feeling- I felt like I was flying. And wake boarding was crazy. I stood up for a really short time, but the feeling of knowing you're balancing is so fulfilling. Will definitely need to try it again someday and also need to give surfing a second chance after giving up a couple years ago. I really wanted to try jet skiing, but the first two people that hopped on to try it out lost us while we were on the boat, so they ended up using it for 4 hours lol. It's alright, it's something I can always do when I'm in Hawaii I guess.
Which reminds me. For those that don't know, I made the decision to return to Hawaii on August 31 with no short-term intentions to return to Seattle to live. It was a decision that took a LOT and I mean A LOT of thought. It had constantly been on my mind since the beginning of this year, but after much deliberation, I finally concluded that moving back home would be the best decision at this point. I don't have the extra money to pay for rent anymore and it's exhausting to see my checking balance lower and lower every time I pay for bills, groceries and other necessities. And I know I sound like a baby, but I miss my mom and dad A LOT and through my four years away from home, I learned to appreciate what they do for me so much.
BUT I will miss Seattle SO MUCH. I will always consider it my second home. It's opened up so many doors for me and my time here has made me grow TREMENDOUSLY. I will never forget all the memories I've made here with my friends. Things I will miss: MY FRIENDS, my alma mater, the environment, the people, independence, bubble tea. I will definitely visit as much as I can. I can see myself raising a family here, so there's possibility of returning to Seattle to actually live someday in the future depending on what it may have in store.
I have intentions of continuing my education and going to graduate school next year (which is why I'm studying for the GRE, that evil thing) and hopefully I will have enough money to return to the mainland. It depends on what programs I eventually apply to, but I am looking at schools in California, Arizona and even one in Philadelphia.
I'm also currently looking for a job in Hawaii and hope to use the money I save up to this year to help me with grad school expenses. ASSUMING I even get in to grad school! I have a friend who applied to 5 schools to get her doctorate, with a 3.9 GPA at UW and a sufficient GRE score, but she didn't get in to ANY of the schools she applied to. Isn't that messed up? UGHHH competition is frigging skyrocketing for EVERYTHING these days thanks to the economy.
So anyway, those are my plans in a nutshell. Sorry this is such a long update. It's been such a long time!
