Staying cool in my house, and watching the Orioles beat up on the Cubs. Just got back from working out and visiting the Amish market in Easton. Today I did 5K at 3.7 MPH with a 4 foot incline for 2/3 of the walk (16:12 mile). I'm tired now. But it feels so good to have done it. Adding the incline makes the workout harder and more gratifying.
I'm getting perilously close to the 50 pounds lost mark. Two more pounds to go. Then just another 30 pounds till goal. I'm really starting to think I can do this. If I lose those 32 more pounds, I will be back at the weight I was at for most of my late 20s and 30s, and certainly thinner than what I was when I met Pat in 1995.
These last 10 pounds were rather slow in coming off. I thought I had hit a plateau...I guess I did, really. But in the last several days, since the 5k race, I feel the plateau easing and weight starting to burn off again. Oh, I'm so excited.
I'm glad the toe thing has eased up. The cortisone shot I got last week really worked wonders. I suppose it won't last forever, but for now it's not hurting. I do get some knee stress from time to time, though. Nothing I can't live with.
Like I said before, it's all a mental game. And this is why I like doing the walking workouts on the treadmill rather than outside. I need to see those numbers as i go so that I can keep my focus. I suppose at some point soon I will need to test myself by doing a long outside walk. The Cross Island trail is about 6 miles, so I'll start doing that. If I want to do the 1/2 Marathon, I will need to be able to walk the same length of the trail both ways anyway, so I may as well start practicing.
Orioles 11, Cubs 0, in the 6th. Love it.
