can't sleep...
celia got in a small car wreck today.
celia's my car.
celia the scion (i thought--and still think--it was clever).
nancy and i were driving to guitar world in studio city to pick up a guitar to use as a teaching tool for the younger kids, next school year, when some driver decides to ignore the fact that her light was red, and ran straight through it, into the main street on which i drove.
i saw her coming, wondering why the heck she wasn't stopping when my light was green. i tried to come to a quick stop, she was looking at me like i was the idiot who wasn't stopping, and in a slow motion decelleration on both our parts, our front corners collided.
small blessings: nancy and i were okay; no one was hurt. it was pretty much an empty street, save our two cars. the mother of the young lady driving the car is a real sweetheart, and accepts total responsibility for her daughter's lapse in judgment. she has hookups with a auto body shop and can get the car fixed for an amazingly good price, in good time. she is paying the full price that it will take to get the car fixed.
frustrations: her insurance is pending, since she just recently renewed it. there was a language barrier, with spanish being their primary language. i don't have my car for a couple of days. timing couldn't be worse, considering i have less than a week until i have to move up north, and i can only hope they fix my car before then. celia's hurt; i've established a real bond with my car...
nancy has a theory, that the world desires this inevitable and unavoidable balance. in respect to driving, no one can drive with a clean record forever. they can either get in a series of small accidents or cheap violations, or go for awhile without anything going wrong, and get in a serious life-threatening accident or get their license revoked after pulling off stupid maneuvers on the road.
so here's to more small accidents or cheap violations to come?
i guess it could've been worse. so in a sense, i'm glad that what happened today, happened the way it did, regardless of the fact that it happened.
so drive safe, friends. and don't run red lights.
