Most women will scoff at men who sit in front of a computer screen watching hours and hours of porn. But aren't we guilty of the same exact thing? Romantic comedies are like porn for women. A porn star is this idealized version of women as sexual objects, exactly how men wish we were. Maybe not all of the time but, some of the time. The way men are portrayed in our favorite romantic comedies is a woman's most idealized version of men, as desperate open books who will commit to a woman with their entire soul, instill their hopes and dreams into them and depend on them forever and for everything. Because that is what we want. Or, at least, we think it is.
