-How long have you been here, and what's stopping people from just hunting down these scientists and demanding these chips out?

The answers are yes, over a month, and no one can find them.

Some people have been here for at least a year, and there are doctors that have also been brought here that can remove chips. Currently, most are not performing any chip removals due to a fatal infection that is killing many who undergo the procedure, making the whole removal rather pointless.
