1. Please to be reading www.344pounds.com - you will find enough inspiration there to blow your friggin' mind.

2. Tell someone about your goals - and your progress. OK, so you've told us you want to do this. Now, use this journal, this public space, to tell us how you're doing. Accountability to others is a big motivator. Tell us when you do well and also when you don't.

3. Join a health/fitness group on LJ or Facebook where you can talk to others - both to address #2 above and also for motivation, tips, etc. I am in a group that is very small and not super active, but it does give me some motivation: livingafitlife.

4. I have a Biggest Loser Season 1 workout DVD that I used to do and I *loved* it - Bob kicks ass, the workout routines are structured so you can start slow and he even tells you what to do instead if something he is doing is too hard for you. You are welcome to have and/or borrow this DVD. I really don't use it anymore since I am running M/W/F and doing strength training on T/Th.

5. Use your pool. For fuck's sake, when that thing opens up, it can serve two excellent purposes: you can excercise in it with low impact and greater freedom of movement, and after a regular workout you can get in it to cool off - bliss!

6. Workout with a buddy. If Geena can't play, see if someone else can sometimes. Having someone to talk to can make it more fun.

7. Set small fitness goals. When I started running again, I couldn't get very far. Now I tell myself, I will run to that mailbox. When I get to that mailbox, I keep on going to the next thing. You might start with 20 minutes a day and then aim to increase by a certain percent or amount of time each week.

8. Walk. One thing that I have become conscious of (and 344 pounds guy mentions as well) is how we are set up not to do much walking. Park your car further away from the front than you have to. If Geena is dropping you off, have her drop you at the back of the lot. Walk in place while you brush your teeth.

You're doing great with working on what you eat. But you're already seeing that will only take you so far. That calories out part is even more important than watching what you put in.

Damn, I sound like a twat. But I mean every word.
