Is this a smartass graph? Because while those death tolls are quite high and horrible to ponder, they still weren't perpetrated as a single act of violence against innocents, so there is really no comparison. Even the number of homicides, while arguable acts of violence against innocence (though some were perhaps not) still happened one or so at a time and were not mass tragedies. I don't think there's a big picture here to see.

But I could be being obtuse and missing the point. Oh, and there are no squirrel-related deaths on the chart, which is a shame.

The point I was trying to make is nobody seems to give a shit about say, smoking deaths etc, even tho the numbers are waaaaaay higher...but all the money goes to the war and not here were it can be better spent.

It may be a smartass graph, but it does offer a different perspective. One, I believe, deserves consideration. Is terrorism still bad? Of course it is. Does that mean we should turn a blind eye to Heart Disease?

Well, no, but I don't think anyone would rationally suggest we turn a blind eye to heart disease, or that we ignore heart disease in favor of paying attention to terrorism.

I think the whole point of the graph is to point out that while we are spending so much time worrying about terrorism we are ignoring literally hundreds of thousands of deaths that could very easily .....well, delayed, if people would just be more aware and worried about the things that actually have an impact on their life....and shit.

yea, I was going to ask how many of these deaths were simultaneous too...

You might be able to prevent or control heart disease (I do it daily), but you can nuke Iran.
