Day 20 - Clean Eat Challenge

Sep 24, 2011 22:29

It's nearly October, and it's still over 100 degrees out >:(

Breakfast:
- Green tea (+honey)
- Whole wheat english muffin (+PB, chia seeds)
- 1 Hard-boiled egg white

Morning Snack
- Skipped, since I woke up late. I did have about a spoonful of the Chocolate Hazelnut Butter I just got in, though! :)

Lunch
- Leftover Black Bean Burger (on ezekiel bread +mushroom, onion, laughing cow cheese, mustard)
- Edamame (I ate way too much of this, because I didn't portion it out, and wasn't paying attention to how much I was consuming. Bad!)
- Green tea (+honey)

Afternoon snack
- Protein Smoothie (+splash of soymilk and coconut milk, scoop of ON vanilla whey, frozen strawberries, Chocolate Hazelnut Butter (CHB), flaxseed, wheat germ, handful raw oats)

Dinner
- Hugh Jass Salad (+ baby spinach, chopped carrots, chopped almonds, raw sunflower seeds, croutons, hard-boiled egg, a little avocado, whole wheat tortilla cut into strips and panfried slightly, Honey Mustard dressing)
- Green tea (+honey)

Dessert
- 1TB CHB

My weight is still at 193. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing, or if maybe PMS that's keeping me bloated? Or just natural body fluctuations. I'm trying not to think too hard about it. It's very tempting to try and count calories to see if I'm overeating, but my main goal is getting good at clean eating, and go from there.

My goal for next week is to eat more raw foods. I tend to bake, steam and sautee everything, and that goes against Tosca's rule of eating as close to the source (or however she worded it!) as possible. I should be eating onions and mushrooms raw, and expanding my vegetable vocab. I tend to avoid bell peppers, because I can't stand the green ones. But any of the others are fine, and I need to start eating them! My salad was good, but lacked lots of color.

Anyway, I realize I'll have to cook meat and rice, but as far as veggies, I'm going to go as raw as I can! I need to practice slowing down when I eat too. I usually eat with a laptop or book in front of me, which is a bad habit. Our daughter is only 1, so it's hard to really have a "family dinner".

My mom was kind enough to buy me some Zumba clothes, so I'm psyched about that! I made a new Zumba shirt today (pics to come), and a Zumba belt. I must come off as really ostentatious to all the women who wear such normal gym clothes, haha, but I love it so much. Part of me is such a performer, and getting all dressed up and rocking out and dancing feels so good to me. I can't WAIT for the 2 hour Zumbathon in October!!! (If any of you are in the Austin area, let me know, you should totally come!)

I was really productive today, considering it's my "day off". I just cleaned and picked up a lot. The kitchen looks awesome, and we finally removed the swinging gate contraption that separated the kitchen from the living room. Pepper is walking so good now, and she's constantly shaking the gate if she gets stuck on either side. It's such a breeze to go from one room to the other now!

Tomorrow I'm going to do some Zumba and yoga, and then hopefully get some reading done. My stack of books is getting ridiculous!!
