Jesus Camp

Jesus Camp is one of the most arresting and disturbing movies I have ever seen. It's a documentary about a bunch of Evangelical children who attend a summer camp in order to train to be soldiers in God's army.

Before I continue, I should note here that I am agnostic in religion and moderate in politics. My views are not religious, nor are they political -- I hope for them to just be practical.

I tried to approach this movie with an open mind, but I soon found that impossible. What these adults are doing to these children - of which most are impressionable preteens - is pure demagoguery.

I don't know as much about American religious principles as I would like to, but I do know that America was founded not on Judeo-Christian principles as much as it was on separation of church and state. These people claim to be conservative, but I don't know of any homogeneous group in America today that is using the radical liberal philosophy of government as a vehicle for social change more than the Evangelical Christians are. The abrogation of secularism is the most liberal movement in America.
