That was brutal and completely horrific, but the writing is so good and the characterisation so well-done that it's still un-putdownable (if you see what I mean).
I like this part as well, and how much Buffy is unaware of what all this is meaning for Spike. She's human and can't really relate to the vampirism of it. At the same time, he can't really relate to her humanness.
I also like that Chuck was smart enough to figure out what was wrong with Spike. A vampire who can't hurt and being pimped out would have to have some sort of restraint on him.
Thank you. I wanted to stress that it wasn't any one character's fault that things got as nasty as they did - rather that they all fail in some respect to each other.
Chuck figuring it out was kind of hard to write, but it's something I always imagined, and kinda waited to see happen on the show - I mean, how long was Spike walking around Sunnydale essentially helpless and un-messed-with?
