so, last week i was in tromsø at the film festival. tromsø is really far north - north of sweden and the north-est i've ever been before. it's a bit weird, i was still in norway but to go to france would've taken just the same time by plane! and it was dark pretty much all the time - quite depressing. but tromsø is a really nice town, it surprised me that it was so cozy! and there were cafés everywhere, i like that. it's expensive traveling in norway tho', i don't wanna think of all the money i spent just on food and coffee:( luckily i didn't have to pay for the flight ticket and the hotel - that's so great! i've never spent as much as four nights in a row on a real hotel - what a luxury:D being in the film club is fantastic - we were four people from ås going and the norwegian film club union are gonna pay everything! all we had to do was showing up at course that lasted for two hours and then we got a big lunch:)

well, since we were there during the film festival, i had to watch i few films. some of the films i really wanted to see were sold out, so it was not much of a plan behind the ones i saw. but here they are:

house of the tiger king: a weird documentary about an expedition to el dorado. at first it was really funny but then their guide who'd seen the road in a dream while high on lcd or something left. they got more sober guides which were more boring and that made the film more boring too. an ok film, i'd say.

somnambulance: an estonian film which i didn't get at all. it was all just screaming and pain - thankfully they all died in the end... but the pictures were really beautiful!

the arm wrestler from solitude: a documentary about a girl from a little place in sweden called solitude. she's 23 and has won the world championship in arm wrestling the last five years. she's cool, her family's cool and this was the best film i saw:)

break even: a good and funny film about a swedish director going to russia to find locations to his next film. a lot of eastern europe clichés, which is fun:)

live-in maid: argentinian film about a woman who couldn't afford to have her maid anymore. a bit depressing but a good film about the economic breakdown in argentina. i had to take out some money from the atm right after i saw and i was surprised to see i actually had money on my account! i was really in the poor mode, there...

jerusalem my love: another documentary about the filmmaker trying to find the faith he'd lost. it kinda bored me 'cause i don't find the theme very interesting. and i was a bit surprised it didn't provoke me 'cause when it was presented it was pointed out that he didn't touch the political conflict in jerusalem and that people like me could expect to be provoked! but the photography was really beautiful in this as well.

singing in the rain: for me, the festival ended with a good ol' classic. i hadn't seen it before and was of course skeptic to the musical shit. but it's fun and i love clothes from the twenties:) the last singing and dancing scene was maybe a bit to much for me but i left the cinema feeling happy:)

now i soon have another exam and i should go home and read. but i think i'll go to ski and do some shopping instead since all the exams i had before x-mas actually went very well! despite how i felt after i had them. it's fucking scary - no matter how little i do or how late i start reading i end up with decent results. not any a's, but i haven't got any worse than c's so far. i'm better than mediocre and i don't lift a finger:)
