OSI Seven-Layer Model
I wonder if this has anything to do with Lain. There are thirteen layers, or episodes. I don't really understand this layer system much, it seems to be seven different types of functions, different ways that computers can connect to each other. Heck, I might be thinking this all wrong.
But there are thirteen instead of seven...well, it's going to be weird with seven episodes. Why do you think they decided to name them layers instead of episodes?
