The Wonderful World of Barbie & Lego pt. 1

A few months ago I complained that I can't go to a Barbie & Lego exhibition in Warsaw. Well, I couldn't come so the exhibition came to me ;)
About a month ago the same exhibition (called "The Wonderful World of Barbie and Lego) visited Wroclaw (Breslau) where my sister lives. So 2 in 1 - I could go and finally visit my sister and see the exhibition.
From what I saw in the pictures and heard from my friend the two exhibitions were very different - the one in Warsaw had more dolls but the one in Wroclaw had some other dolls that Warsaw didn't have. Similar with LEGO buildings - most was the same but there were some differences (other buildings in Warsaw but Wroclaw had Duplo).

The vintage part was really nice although some of the dolls had green ears and bitten feet. There was the original Bild Lilli doll, so great to see her in reality. There was no #1 ponytail, only a reproduction :( Actually there were too many reproductions mixed with genuine vintage dolls. Mattel will never create better outfits than at the beginning when it really looked like miniatures of real human clothing and when they paid attentions to such details as tiny buttons, zippers etc. All we've got now is velcro and sewn on dresses on collectible dolls.

I loved the 80's dolls which is no surprise :)The 90's and more current playline dolls were a big disappointment - all the dolls looked as if they were second-hand and in played-with condition, that had mismatched outfits (wrong shoes for the dress etc.) and they missed many dolls from various series (eg. even the Cali Girl line wasn't completed). Seriously, I've got more dolls at home and at least they look mint. I think they had only about 2 or 3 My Scene dolls which was as big a disappointed as a complete lack of Fashion Fever dolls. I think FF is important enough for the playline to be included in the exhibition.

The rest of the exhibition were collectible dolls. I'm not a big fan od collector's dolls (or rather of their prices) but it was nice to see them, especially all the Bob Mackie dolls. Collectible part of the exhibition had much fewer dolls than in Warsaw :( And Mulan was wearing Pocahontas clothes - what's wrong with the people that prepared the exhibition??

Lego pictures next time in part 2.

We were not allowed to take pictures but we heard from other people that security is not that strict so we went in the morning to avoid the crowd and children. But being almost alone the security spotted me and my sister and asked us just to take very general pictures of the showcases and not to photograph each doll individually. So we had to hurry with taking pictures and that's why they look the way they look. Besides the lighting was horrible and my sister got bored with the dolls fast.

Click on the thumbnails to see bigger pictures, there are many of them so I decided just to show the miniatures. They all open in a new window and if you can't see something just tell me because they're on ImageShack and it likes to behave so I'll just upload them again.
These are of course only some of the pictures from the exhibition and they're resized so if you want to see something different or bigger pictures tell me. Enjoy :)
