ACL was amazing, duh. I'm not really in the mood to delve into details, but here were the highlights of my weekend, in no particular order after the first:
1. ISAWJACKWHITE
2. seeing where nikki and melissa reside
3. waking up saturday morning to see chelsea marcum smiling at me!
4. ben kweller stuffing a tampon up his nose
5. delicious watermelon for lunch
6. seeing the most beautiful house ever, where bob and ben vorce reside
7. seeing bob and ben vorce
8. running and hugging this girl that i thought was hillary... but definitely wasn't hillary
9. lunch with gevey and experiencing the dobie dorm life for about 15 minutes. it felt wonderful.
10. while watching the raconteurs, this sweet girl next to me offered to email me all of the pics she took of jack white. and they were hellasweet thanks to her awesome zoom lens.
11. the raconteurs did this glorious cover of bang, bang by nancy sinatra (or sonny and cher if we have to be that precise). it was BEAUTIFUL!
did i mention i got to see this guy?
P.S. i also screamed "JACK WHITE IS A GOLDEN GOD!"
i'm so happy i saw the man i love in the city i love. it was a dream come true. :o)
EDIT: a bit of austin360's review on the raconteurs:
"The quintet delivered a delicious surprise with a cover of Sonny & Cher’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down).” Sounding kind of Cher-ish, White rung every ounce of quivery emotion and drama he could out of his voice before nearly screaming himself hoarse on the next song, “Broken Boy Soldier,” and jumping with Benson into a long, guitars-wailing blues jam on “Blue Veins.” One of the set’s many highlights, it proved you can take the red pants off of a White Stripe and let him rock out all he wants, but he’s still really a blues boy at heart."
