Well! It does feel good to have a few friends in this town. I was dining by myself at this appaling little hole in the street, having arrived not four hours beforehand and thinking to myself how fabulous it would be to run into an opportunity, and just then who strolls by but my darling Emcee? He was thrilled to see me, of course -- bought me a steak and everything, the works, the whole shebang! He takes such good care of his ladies, I must say. What a good listener, he sat through a full travelogue of my little jaunt with hardly a word -- though that smile of his can be unnerving if a girl isn't careful and sure of herself. Luckily I'm both, and he hired me back at the Klub at once. To be a chanteuse once more! The movies really aren't my cup of tea right now -- there are simply no scripts that are suited to me. Oh yes, surely they'll come around eventually, so that the whole world will be treated to the Sally Bowles experience -- but not yet. I must build a base, you know -- it just isn't smart to not think of these things beforehand. Give me the life onstage, the here and now, the bright lights, the adoring fans!
Oh yes, I think I'm quite ready to come out of retirement from the stage. It's the perfect chance for me to create my allure and attract the right producer.
